"Mai Vang Tri An" presents a gift to musician Le Ham

On the morning of May 5, the " Mai Vang Tri An " program organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with the support of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank visited and presented gifts to musician Le Ham (89 years old, residing in Truong Thi ward, Vinh city, Nghe An province).

Recognizing the contributions of musician Le Ham, on behalf of the "Mai Vang Tri An" Program, Dr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, sent his regards, encouragement and awarded a certificate and a support of 10 million VND to the musician. The Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper wished the musician good health and more compositions to contribute to the development of music, preserving and developing folk songs of Nghe An.

Receiving the gift from the "Golden Apricot Gratitude" program, presented by the Lao Dong Newspaper with the support of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank, musician Le Ham was moved to express: "Recently, I learned about the "Golden Apricot Gratitude" program, which has organized visits and given gifts to many artists and intellectuals who have contributed to the arts across the country. This is an extremely meaningful program, helping us artists have more motivation to continue creating and contributing to society."

On behalf of the Nghe An Literature and Arts Association, Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Tri Dung, Permanent Vice President of the Association, expressed his sincere thanks to the "Mai Vang Tri An" program organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper with the support of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank. "I am very touched because despite the distance, the program's representative still personally visited and presented gifts to musician Le Ham, who has made many contributions to the artistic activities of Vietnam in general and Nghe An in particular. On behalf of the Association's leadership, I would like to thank the newspaper. I hope that the program will continue to accompany artists nationwide to help them overcome difficulties and devote themselves to art" - Associate Professor Dinh Tri Dung expressed.

It is known that musician Le Ham also has the pen names La Ky An and Lam Ha. In addition to participating in the Musicians' Association, he is also a member of the Vietnam Association of Educational Psychology and the Vietnam Folk Arts Association. He participated in the resistance war against the French from a young age. In 1951, he joined the Cultural Department of Division 320. In 1954, he transferred to the Cultural Department of Inter-Zone IV. In 1956, he studied at the Department of Composition - Vietnam Music School.

He was in charge of the music sector in Vinh Linh Special Zone. After that, he held the following positions: Head of Nghe Tinh Performing Arts Troupe, Deputy General Secretary of Nghe Tinh Literature and Arts Association, Director of Labor Cultural House, Vice President of the Literature and Arts Association and Deputy General Secretary of Nghe An Folk Arts Association, Permanent Vice President of Nghe An Provincial Literature and Arts Association, and Head of Thanh - Nghe - Tinh Musicians Association.

Musician Le Ham is one of the famous artists who has made many contributions to the cultural and artistic activities of Vietnam in general and Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces in particular. He wrote hundreds of famous songs of the time such as: "Unconquerable singing", "Girls of Song La", "Offering to the Party the new works", "Vinh - City of dawn", "Ve hoi lang Sen", "Nguoi me lang Sen", "Hop ca cong to To quoc Viet Nam"... With his compositions over more than 70 years, musician Le Ham deserves the title "a giant of Nghe An's music".

In addition to composing, musician Le Ham also devoted much effort to preserving, transmitting, and promoting folk melodies, especially Vi-Giam folk songs of Nghe An. This effort is demonstrated through many articles, discussions, and research on Vi-Giam folk songs of Nghe Tinh.

In 2022, musician Le Ham was honored to receive the State Prize with a series of 3 musical works: "The Mother of Sen Village", "The Girl of La River", "Vietnam in Our Heart".
