Schedule of 10th grade specialized exam trials in Hanoi

High schools for Natural Sciences, Foreign Languages, and Hanoi Pedagogical University all have three trial exams for grade 10 from March to May, with a fee of 150,000 VND per subject.

Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted is opening registration for the first round of mock exams for grade 9 students nationwide, the deadline is February 28. Students will take the mock exam on March 3 and receive the results after 10 days.

The remaining two rounds will take place on April 14 and May 12. Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted said that candidates will take the Literature and Math exams in the morning, with 90 minutes for each subject. The specialized subjects (Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, English) will take place in the afternoon, with 120 minutes for each subject.

The school will open registration for a new trial exam after the previous one ends.

The mock exams are held directly at the University of Education High School for the Gifted. The registration fee is 450,000 VND per exam session, and is non-refundable if the candidate fails the exam.

The High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , Vietnam National University, Hanoi, completed the first round of mock exams at the end of January. The school has opened registration for the second round of mock exams, which will last until March 4.

Candidates will take the exam over two days, with General Math (also known as Math 1) and Literature taking place in the morning and afternoon of March 9, each subject lasting 120 minutes. On March 10, candidates will take the specialized subject test for 150 minutes. The morning is for candidates taking the specialized Math (Math 2) or specialized Biology exam, while the afternoon is for specialized Physics and Chemistry.

The High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences plans to hold the third trial exam on April 6-7 but has not yet accepted registration. The exam fee is 150,000 VND per subject.

The Foreign Language High School , Hanoi National University, also has three mock exams. The first one took place in January. The schedule for the remaining two mock exams is as follows:

The exams include Foreign Language Proficiency Assessment (multiple choice and essay, 90 minutes), Mathematics and Natural Sciences (multiple choice, 55 minutes), Literature and Social Sciences (multiple choice and essay, 55 minutes); taking place in one session.

In the first two rounds, the school only organized a trial exam for the English major, while the last round had English, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Hanoi has four specialized high schools affiliated with universities. Currently, only the Social Sciences and Humanities high school has not announced a plan for the 10th grade mock exam.

The official entrance exams of the schools take place in early June. Of these, the Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted usually receives the most applications. Last year, more than 6,000 candidates took the exam, competing for 315 places at the school. With the same quota of 500 students, the Natural Sciences and Foreign Languages majors had 3,000 and 4,000 candidates taking the exam, respectively. The Social Sciences and Humanities High School received more than 1,000 applications, about 1/5 of which were accepted.
