Launching Ceremony of "Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition 2024"

(NADS) - On the morning of February 29 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition) coordinated with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and relevant agencies and units to organize the Launching Ceremony of the Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition 2024.

Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Attending and chairing the ceremony were: Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Artist Tran Thi Thu Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists; Artist Ma The Anh - Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); and many guests who are photographers, journalists and reporters.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition) in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and relevant agencies and units organizes the Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition 2024 (expected to be held in Hanoi and in Hue City - Thua Thien Hue Province) to gather authors and typical works created in 2023 and 2024.

Based on the practical activities and development of the photography field, in recent years, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition) has successfully organized many national and international photography competitions, festivals and exhibitions. The Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition has been organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism every two years since 2000. This is an important event for the Vietnamese photography community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "The organization of the Vietnam Art Photography Contest and Exhibition periodically in recent years has created healthy professional activities, stimulated creativity; both suitable for the psychology and needs of creating and publishing works of the photography community; brought direction to the creations; and at the same time served the public's need to enjoy and enjoy art, contributing to enriching the spiritual life of the people."

It can be seen that in the world in general and in Vietnam in particular, photography has been developing rapidly, has widespread popularity and has a direct and strong impact on social life. Photography not only serves people's need for enjoyment but also serves as a channel for information, reflection and social criticism. Through photography, the image of the country and Vietnamese people is widely and deeply promoted to the public at home and abroad; contributing to the protection and promotion of national cultural identity in the process of development, exchange, integration and international cooperation. At the same time, photography also reflects, mentions and warns of issues in social life.

In recent years, along with the development of the photography industry, Vietnamese photographers have invested a lot of time and effort in researching and creating works of value in both content and art. Many photographers have won high awards at domestic and international photography competitions.

Many photographers, journalists and reporters attended the ceremony.

The Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition is considered a major photography event introduced to a wide audience at home and abroad, thereby summarizing and evaluating the creative achievements of Vietnamese photographers in 2023 and 2024. Through the Competition and Exhibition, artists will be encouraged to create many new works of value in content and art, serving the cultural and spiritual life of the people. At the same time, it contributes to introducing and promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the public at home and abroad. Helping management agencies and the photography industry have an overview and correctly assess the current situation of Vietnamese photographers and issues in photo creation in recent times.
