In more than 30 years of operation, SOS Children's Village Vinh has truly been a loving home for orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances in the area, becoming a trusted address for many unfortunate lives; with the tireless efforts of the staff, teachers, mothers and aunts, SOS Children's Village Vinh has achieved outstanding achievements in caring for, nurturing and educating children in especially difficult circumstances.
According to the report on the implementation results of the first 6 months of 2023 of SOS Children's Village Vinh on the care, nurturing, education and protection of children living in the Village and Youth Dormitory (LXTN), staff, teachers, mothers and aunts always uphold their roles and responsibilities in managing, caring for, nurturing, ensuring standards and diet according to the regulations of the SOS organization and the additional funding according to Decree 20 of the Government, Resolution 30 of the People's Council of Nghe An province, 100% of children are provided with food allowance.
Along with that, implement food safety and hygiene regimes well, prevent epidemics from occurring and ensure nutrition for children. Every day, mothers provide food, build menus, ensure sufficient quantity and nutrition for children. Implement transparent and clear economic disclosure on daily bulletin boards.
In the first 6 months of 2023, the Village proactively contacted and received support from local medical units to support health care items such as screening for all Village children. Therefore, the children's health has developed well, only a few children with minor illnesses such as cough, cold, fever... have been examined and treated promptly by the Village's medical staff. Hygiene and disease prevention work is always given due attention, teachers and staff always remind and require children to clean and tidy their living space.
However, there are still problems and difficulties, such as the Village has 01 child with a motor disability, 03 children with intellectual disabilities who need special educational intervention...
Outstanding results
The children are well-behaved, polite, united and supportive of each other. The school and village rules and regulations are strictly followed by the children and they enthusiastically participate in common activities organized by the village and school.
Children in the Village work together to build and preserve a green, clean and beautiful environment.
With their own efforts, most of the children have achieved the results as registered at the beginning of the year. Many families have a very good competitive spirit, the number of violations by children is low and deserves to be commended and encouraged, especially house number 2 and 5.
There are 05 children in LXTN, both male and female, studying in grade 12, who are honored to be admitted to the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam. 120 children have achieved the title of "Filial Children". In the excellent student exams at the school, city and province levels, the number of children from the Village accounts for a high percentage of excellent students. However, besides that, there are still many children who are weak in studying, lazy to study, some children have limited learning ability, and have to study in an integrated form.
As of May 2023, the entire Village has 52 children studying at university, college, vocational school, and vocational school. Most of them are trying to complete their training program well. However, 1 child has depression and has to drop out of school; 2 children have to drop out halfway.
Also in the first 6 months of 2023, the Village organized the formation of separate families for 06 children, including 02 girls and 04 boys. However, some children are still facing difficulties, especially those who have just graduated from school or have just started a family.
Regarding education and career orientation, the Village always organizes well-organized seminars on improving the quality of learning and training for children; regularly maintains a good collective living regime, organizes cultural, sports, labor, hygiene and self-care activities for children, in order to train their will to strive to integrate into society.
The staff in charge must be diligent in learning and have certain knowledge about the job market, job search opportunities, etc. SOS Children's Villages need to coordinate with experts and career counseling organizations to provide information and job search opportunities for SOS youth.
Outside of school hours, children in the Village participate together in building and preserving a green, clean, and beautiful environment.
In addition, to effectively carry out career counseling and orientation, the Village has coordinated with the Vocational Training Department of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to organize a career counseling program for young people, especially students in grades 9 and 12.
Care about preserving landscape and environment
Along with moral and cultural training, children and their families have paid attention to cultural activities, sports, labor hygiene, landscape and environmental preservation. Most of the family areas are always clean, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility. Many children have good labor skills, many families have actively gardened, increased production, created clean vegetable gardens, mothers, aunts, employees and children have joined hands to build the village campus to always be green, clean and beautiful.
Children at the Village participate in cultural, artistic and sports activities every day.
In addition, cultural, artistic and sports activities have been actively practiced by the children every day. Football, volleyball, basketball clubs... have been maintained with quality activities. In particular, morning physical activities have been well maintained in the Village and the LXTN area.
In addition, activities to enhance life skills and provide knowledge are always organized such as: Learning about the law, Golden Bell contest, participating in the Law Club, Team building...
An event that became a highlight in this year's art movement was that the children participated in the contest "I am a bright star". With the utmost efforts of the children in the competition team and the responsible support of the collective of mothers, aunts, employees, brothers and sisters... The children's performance won the awards: The performance voted as the most typical on Social Networks and the performance with the highest level of Inspiration.
