On October 13, the Vietnam Young Physicians Association coordinated with the Department of Health, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ngai province and other units to organize the program "Medical examination for a healthier Vietnam" in Nghia Hanh district (Quang Ngai province).
This is one of the activities in the working program and movement of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, aiming to welcome the Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, term 2024 - 2029.
According to Dr. Ha Anh Duc - Chairman of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, in 2024, the program "Medical examination for a healthier Vietnam" will be held in 30 provinces and cities.
In Quang Ngai, this is the second time in 2024 that the delegation has come to examine and provide medicine. In 2025, based on the summary and experience from practice, the program will be better organized, meeting the needs and aspirations of the people.
“The Vietnam Young Physicians Association is implementing this program with the desire to help many people get examined and consulted, and to the extent possible, treat them. For example, cataract cases detected today will be listed and sent to Da Nang for free treatment; the same goes for children with congenital heart disease. For those with musculoskeletal diseases, blood pressure, diabetes... they will be instructed on how to take care of themselves, adjust their diet, and exercise,” said Dr. Ha Anh Duc.
With the desire to take care of community health, within the framework of the program, a team of 70 doctors and nurses with many years of experience, working at central hospitals in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Da Nang... examined, provided health consultation, and dispensed medicine to 500 people in the communes of Hanh Tin Tay, Hanh Tin Dong, and Hanh Thien (Nghia Hanh district).
The contents deployed by the delegation include: general examination, neurological examination, musculoskeletal examination, ear, nose and throat examination; eye examination, refraction measurement; paraclinical indications; electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, general abdominal ultrasound...
Joining the working group, resident doctor Nguyen Anh Huy shared: "Through screening, the most common diseases are high blood pressure, bone and joint diseases, and stomach diseases. If we detect blood pressure diseases, we advise people on diet and lifestyle. For bone and joint diseases, we give them supplements."
Notably, the program “Medical examination for a healthier Vietnam” is especially meaningful for the elderly. This is a group of people with many underlying diseases but they do not have the conditions to go for examination, screening for detection and treatment.
"I have joint pain. Today I came here for a medical examination and the doctors examined me, gave me medicine and gave me free treatment instructions. I am very happy and grateful" - Ms. Pham Thi Phan (84 years old, Khanh Giang village, Hanh Tin Dong commune) shared.
According to Mr. Pham Minh Duc, Director of Quang Ngai Department of Health, this free medical examination and medicine distribution campaign was closely coordinated between the provincial Department of Health and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association. The two sides worked together to develop regulations and plans for implementation.
“This is a meaningful activity in public health care, especially screening and early detection of cardiovascular and eye diseases for timely treatment. The Department has also directed its affiliated units in the province to coordinate with the working group, dispatch human resources and mobilize means to examine and treat people,” informed the Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Health.
At the program, the Organizing Committee presented 20 gifts to policy families and children from disadvantaged families; visited and presented gifts to 4 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.
The units also supported 10 congenital heart surgeries for children under 13 years old worth 500 million VND; supported Phaco cataract surgery for 40 people worth more than 400 million VND, donated medical equipment, the Telehealth system, to Nghia Hanh District Medical Center, and gave 500 gifts to people. The total value of the program organization was up to more than 2 billion VND.
