First introduction of Da Nang tourism in Ahmedabad, India

DNVN - On February 17 in Ahmedabad (Gujarat state, India), a road show introducing Da Nang tourism took place, attracting the participation of representatives of the Indian Tourism Associations (TAAI, TAFI, OTOAI and GTAA) and more than 100 guests including Indian press reporters and tourism businesses.

The road show introducing Da Nang tourism in Ahmedabad (the largest city in Gujarat state and the 7th largest urban area in India, with a population of about 5.1 million people) took place on February 17, co-organized by the Da Nang Department of Tourism and Vietjet Air, witnessed by Mr. Le Quang Bien, Consul General of Vietnam in Mumbai, India.

“This is the first time we have come to Ahmedabad to introduce our beautiful coastal city to our partners in order to promote tourism cooperation between the two cities through direct flights of Vietjet Air,” said Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director in charge of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center.

21 Vietnamese tourism businesses participating in the road show directly introduced new products, suitable for the needs and interests of Indian tourists. On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also increased communication and promoted the journey "Enjoy Da Nang with many experiences" to the billion-people Indian market.

The highlight of the cultural experience at the road show was the performance of the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai collection with the participation of Miss Universe India 2024 Rhea Singha and artists and actors of Ao Dai Show (Da Nang), attracting much attention from delegates attending the program and contributing to completing the picture of "Da Nang with many experiences".

According to Ms. Huynh Thi Huong Lan, since 2022, India has risen to the top 5 international tourist markets of Da Nang; for every two Indian tourists coming to Vietnam, one chooses Da Nang as a stopover. Identifying India as one of the potential markets, the city's tourism industry is focusing on the tastes and experiences of tourists from this billion-people country.

General Director of Visit Indochina Nguyen Son Thuy said that MICE tourism and wedding tourism in Da Nang are making a strong impression on the Indian market thanks to modern, diverse event spaces and professional services.

The programs to attract MICE and wedding tourists for groups of 50 or more people applied from 2022 have pioneered the development of Da Nang tourism in the billion-people Indian market as well as other international markets. Based on the tastes of Indian tourists and market connection activities, Da Nang continues to focus on perfecting service packages and preferential policies for these two types of tourism.

According to the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, in 2024, the city welcomed more than 222,000 Indian visitors, accounting for 5.3% of the total number of international visitors to the city and nearly 50% of the total number of Indian visitors to Vietnam (501,427 thousand). The total number of Indian visitors to Da Nang has now increased more than 13.5 times compared to 2019, the peak period of tourism before the COVID-19 pandemic.
