(Baoquangngai.vn) - On the morning of May 9, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) solemnly held the 15th anniversary of the Company's establishment (May 9, 2008 - May 9, 2023).

Dung Quat Oil Refinery (NMLD) was assigned by the Government to the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group to invest in construction since June 2005 and on May 9, 2008 (exactly 15 years ago), Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited (now Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company) was established by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and assigned the responsibility of receiving and managing the production and business of Dung Quat Oil Refinery. This is the first enterprise of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group in the field of petrochemical refining, playing the role of connecting the complete production chain from exploration and exploitation to oil and gas processing.

In February 2009, the first commercial product line of Dung Quat Refinery was launched, officially putting Vietnam on the map of the world's petrochemical refining industry; marking a very important beginning in BSR's 15-year journey of creative work and sustainable development.

General Director of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company Bui Ngoc Duong spoke to review the 15-year journey of building and developing the Company.

Speaking at the review of BSR's 15-year journey of construction and development, a journey full of glory and pride, BSR General Director Bui Ngoc Duong emphasized that over the past 15 years, the collective leadership and employees of BSR through the periods have always been united, unanimous, enthusiastic in working, constantly striving, overcoming many difficulties and challenges to operate Dung Quat Refinery safely, stably, and effectively; and well managing and operating production and business activities. Today, looking back on the past journey, BSR is very proud of the results achieved on the past 15-year journey of construction and development.

Since its commercial operation, Dung Quat Refinery has always operated safely, stably and effectively with optimal capacity and product structure.

Up to now, BSR has processed more than 94 million tons of crude oil, produced and sold more than 86 million tons of products to the market, with revenue reaching nearly 1.7 million billion VND, after-tax profit of more than 44 trillion VND and paying the state budget more than 207 trillion VND.

BSR has built a team of more than 1,500 well-trained, highly qualified, dedicated, professional and creative employees - this is a high-quality human resource for the Oil and Gas industry.

During the past 15 years, the BSR leadership and employees have continuously strived, overcome difficulties and challenges to successfully complete production and business tasks. The company has made important contributions to ensuring national energy security, promoting economic development in the Central Highlands and Quang Ngai province.

BSR General Director Bui Ngoc Duong stated that, looking back at the 26-year journey since the Government decided to build Dung Quat Oil Refinery and 15 years since BSR was established, we once again affirm the wisdom of the Party, the Government and the correct decision and strategic vision of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet when choosing Dung Quat as the location of the country's first oil refinery, creating the premise and driving force to attract investment for economic development in the Central Highlands in general and Quang Ngai province in particular.

The success in building Dung Quat Oil Refinery and the growth of BSR has demonstrated the solidarity and determination of the entire political system, creating momentum to promote the Central region's economy, fulfilling Uncle Ho's wish to build the Vietnamese Oil and Gas industry.

Authorized by the Prime Minister, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Thi Quynh Van awarded the Government's Emulation Flag to Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company.

“With the mission of contributing to ensuring national energy security and an important role in promoting socio-economic development in the Central Highlands, together with the political determination and focused leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the collective Board of Directors and employees of BSR will be determined and make continuous efforts, working together to overcome challenges and difficulties to continue operating Dung Quat Oil Refinery in absolute safety, stability and efficiency; bringing the Company to new achievements on the path of development to be worthy of the efforts of many previous generations of cadres and the important responsibility assigned by the Party, State, Government and Group”, emphasized BSR General Director Bui Ngoc Duong.

In addition to successfully completing its production and business tasks, BSR always pays special attention to social security work. Since its establishment, BSR has contributed over 700 billion VND to social security programs. BSR is also the first enterprise in the region to commit to planting 1 million trees in response to the 1 billion tree planting program launched by the Prime Minister.

On behalf of the leaders of Quang Ngai province, speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Van Minh acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the achievements and great contributions of the collective leadership, officers, employees and workers of BSR throughout the process of formation and development over the past 15 years.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dang Van Minh affirmed that the operation of Dung Quat Oil Refinery has made an important contribution to ensuring national energy security, reducing dependence on foreign oil supplies, contributing to the cause of promoting industrialization and modernization of the country; at the same time, it has played an extremely important role in the socio-economic development of Quang Ngai province.

Since its operation, Dung Quat Oil Refinery has paid nearly 208 trillion VND to the state budget. In 2022 alone, Quang Ngai province's budget revenue reached nearly 34 trillion VND (the highest ever), with a huge contribution from Dung Quat Oil Refinery, with more than 19 trillion VND, accounting for 56% of the province's total budget revenue.

“It can be affirmed that Dung Quat Economic Zone is the growth nucleus of Quang Ngai province with the heart being Dung Quat Oil Refinery. The great contributions of Dung Quat Economic Zone in general, and Dung Quat Oil Refinery in particular, have significantly contributed to transforming Quang Ngai province from a poor, purely agricultural province with a low starting point for its economy and a budget that was completely dependent on central government support before 2009, to a province with a large source of revenue for the whole country with an economic scale of 121,668 billion VND; making an important contribution to the overall development of the Central Key Economic Zone,” Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Van Minh stated.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Dang Ngoc Huy and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Van Minh presented flowers and a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company.

The 15th anniversary of BSR's establishment is even more meaningful when the Prime Minister recently issued Decision No. 482 dated May 5, 2023 approving the adjustment of the investment policy for the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Upgrading and Expansion Project, increasing the processing capacity of the plant from 148 thousand barrels/day to 171 thousand barrels/day. This is an important basis for BSR to carry out investment procedures to upgrade and expand to increase capacity, product quality and improve investment efficiency of the plant in the coming period.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Van Minh believes that with the efforts, determination, solidarity, and a team of qualified, professional, and experienced staff, BSR will develop quickly, sustainably, and effectively; the success of the enterprise will be an important foundation to contribute positively to the socio-economic development of Quang Ngai province, increase income for staff, workers, and together with Quang Ngai province, continue to implement social security policies well to improve the quality of life of the people, especially the people in the project area.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group Le Manh Hung acknowledged and praised BSR's efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges to achieve important achievements over the past 15 years. "With the results achieved and the solutions that BSR has proposed, along with the cultural tradition and enthusiasm of generations of workers and BSR's Board of Directors, we fully believe that BSR will overcome all difficulties to complete new goals in its new development stage. The Group will always accompany, create all conditions to guide, support and help the Company to complete its strategic goals", Mr. Le Manh Hung believed.

Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company awarded sponsorship certificates for social security programs in Quang Ngai province in 2023 - 2024.

Leaders of Quang Ngai province, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company performed the valve opening ceremony to clear the oil flow at the celebration ceremony.

At the ceremony, BSR was honored to receive the Government's Emulation Flag for its outstanding achievements, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2022; the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Merit to BSR for its outstanding achievements in 15 years of building and developing the Petrochemical Industry, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of Quang Ngai province; 10 outstanding individuals of BSR were awarded the "For the Oil and Gas Cause" Medal.

Also on this occasion, BSR's representative presented a symbolic board of sponsorship for social security programs in Quang Ngai province in 2023-2024 with an amount of 53 billion VND to the leader of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province.
