On the morning of September 9, people and authorities in Ha Long city (Quang Ninh) continued to urgently clean up furniture and fallen trees caused by storm Yagi.
Along Ha Long Road (Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City), constructions, restaurants and food service establishments along the coastal road were severely damaged by the storm, many constructions almost completely collapsed.
Walking around the restaurants with only steel frames left, roofs completely blown away by the wind, and tables, chairs, and dishes strewn about inside, Mr. Vu Van Manh said his son's five seafood and beverage stalls were completely destroyed by storm No. 3.
“We also followed the forecast of a strong storm making landfall. Although we were prepared, the storm winds were too strong, unprecedented in Quang Ninh, causing great damage to the family,” said Mr. Manh, adding that his son rented 5 stalls, each stall costing 20 million VND/month, not including the investment in facilities for business.
Mr. Manh said sadly: "Before storm Yagi hit, Bai Chay was a bustling and beautiful tourist center, but now it's all gone."
Not only shops, many high-end accommodation establishments in Bai Chay ward, 4 and 5 star hotels mostly had broken glass, signs or damaged facade panels.
