Prosecuted suspect for illegally transporting nearly 7 kg of drugs

On November 18, information from the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province said that the unit had issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Pham Van Trung (36 years old, residing in Hai Duong) to investigate the act of illegally transporting drugs.

According to investigation documents, at around 9:55 a.m. on October 17, the Drug Crime Investigation Department, Hai Duong Provincial Police, in coordination with Hanoi City Police, Hanoi City Customs Department and several other units, discovered Mr. Hoang Van L. (42 years old, living in Hai Duong City), a delivery man (shipper), coming to receive a package suspected of containing drugs at an express delivery location on Dien Bien Phu Street (Hai Duong City).

At the same time, on the opposite side, the police discovered Pham Van Trung driving a car with unusual behavior, so they summoned both Trung and Mr. L. to the police station for questioning.

Police opened the package and discovered many bags containing a total of nearly 6,993 grams of MDMA and many other goods.

Trung confessed that he had previously met a man named Hung who was living in Germany through social media. Before his arrest, Hung contacted Trung through social media to hire him to receive a package containing drugs for a fee of 5 million VND sent from Germany.

According to the representative of the Drug Crime Investigation Department, Hai Duong Provincial Police, recently, the methods and tricks of criminals have become increasingly sophisticated. The suspects in the network are organized in a closed, tight manner, divided into many transport bridges and each bridge only knows its own bridge to avoid exposing the whole network.

Drugs are mixed with goods, sometimes disguised in milk cartons, candy-like products or many other forms. The suspected ringleaders abroad often transfer drugs from countries that do not have mutual legal assistance agreements with Vietnam to avoid being caught.

Along with that, criminals use express delivery, shipper team. By this method, suspects receiving goods are always proactive, controlling the delivery person about time, location, always secretly monitoring the goods, only accepting them if they are safe, otherwise they will abandon the goods.

The case is being further investigated and clarified by the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province.
