Gold price today January 31, 2024 is at its peak, SJC gold is nearly 77.5 million VND/tael

Gold prices today, January 31, on the world market increased amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Domestic gold prices are also high, at nearly 77.5 million VND/tael.

Agribank Ho Chi Minh City Branch has just announced the auction of customer Doan Thi Ngan's debt at Agribank Ho Chi Minh City Branch.

The debt is secured by assets under two credit contracts signed in 2004 between the Gold and Gemstone Company of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City (the debt has now been merged into Agribank) and Ms. Doan Thi Ngan.

The book value of the provisional debt as of July 13, 2023 is 2,149.11 SJC gold taels, equivalent to VND 14,313 billion (according to the gold price on July 13, 2023, it is VND 6.66 million/tael).

Interest will continue to accrue from July 14, 2023 until Ms. Doan Thi Ngan has fully paid off the loan at Agribank Ho Chi Minh City Branch.

Collateral related to the debt includes: house and land at address 17/1, Street 62, Thao Dien Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.

Debt is auctioned as-is (including debt, legal status and potential risks) and on an “as is” basis.

Agribank hopes to collect VND9,226 billion from the auction of this debt. In 2023, the bank announced the auction of the above debt twice in July and November, with starting prices of VND14,313 billion (equal to the value of the debt) and VND10,826 billion, respectively.

Thus, the starting price of this sale is nearly 1.6 billion VND lower than the sale in November 2023.

Agribank Gold and Gemstone Company (AJC) was established in 1994. In 2008, the company was equitized and operated as a joint stock company.

In 2017, Agribank completely divested from AJC after transferring 12.6 million shares (equivalent to 61.24% of AJC's charter capital) to 3 investors including Thung Lung Vua Company Limited (buying 18.16% of charter capital), Hong Ngoc Construction and Investment Service Trading Company Limited (23.06%) and Phu Thinh Production Trading Company Limited (24.78%).

After fully divesting, Agribank issued a document confirming that it was no longer related to this company and requested that the Agribank brand not be used.
