The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open has over 2,500 people, including officials, coaches, and athletes from 29 countries and territories in Asia and outside Asia participating.
On the evening of December 6, in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), the opening ceremony of the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open took place. General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, attended and delivered the opening speech.

The tournament was jointly organized by the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam People's Police Sports Association, taking place from December 6 to December 9 with the slogan "The Power of Police! Taekwondo Police - global citizen protectors". The tournament was attended by over 2,500 people, including officials, coaches, and athletes from 29 countries and territories in Asia and outside Asia. The Vietnam People's Police delegation had 70 athletes competing. The tournament has 2 competition categories: The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship in Vietnam. Participants in this competition category are police officers, officers, and soldiers from Asian countries and men and women of all ages and weight categories. The competition content of this section includes sparring, punching, breaking, and team competition. The second competition category is the Asian Police Taekwondo Festival in Vietnam in 2024 with participants being children, teenagers, young people, and the elderly. The competition content of this category includes sparring, forms (A/B), breaking, freestyle, Taekwondo gymnastics, and team competition.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, Senior General Luong Tam Quang said that the tournament aims to honor the solidarity of Taekwondo police around the world. The tournament also strengthens and enhances the position of Police Taekwondo in Vietnam and the World Police Taekwondo Federation in their efforts for the health, safety and happiness of people around the world. Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the tournament also aims to promote patriotism and national spirit as self-defense practitioners; enhance the educational value of Police Taekwondo through organized education and training. At the same time, the tournament also strengthens the position and image of the Vietnamese Police force and develops high-performance sports in the Vietnam People's Public Security. Previously, to prepare for this tournament, Quang Ninh Provincial Police mobilized more than 300 officers and soldiers, with the support of the Northeast Mobile Police Regiment and working groups of the Guard Command (Ministry of Public Security) and the coordination of functional units in the province to maintain security and order for the tournament.

At the same time, to ensure the movement of athletes and delegates from the central area of Ha Long City to the competition area, Quang Ninh Provincial Police arranged many specialized vehicles to lead the delegation and traffic police forces to block at intersections to ensure the most convenient traffic. According to the Organizing Committee, within the framework of the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship, at 7:00 p.m. on December 7, at 30/10 Square (Ha Long City), there will be a welcoming art program organized by the People's Public Security Song and Dance Theater, the K20 Ceremonial Group in coordination with the Department of Culture - Sports of Quang Ninh Province. The program will be opened with a street parade performance with 20 songs praising the homeland of Vietnam, the march about the People's Public Security by the Vietnam People's Public Security Band.

Following the program was a performance by the Cavalry Mobile Police Group, under the Mobile Police Command, Ministry of Public Security, with main parts such as: Controlling horses in a parade formation; controlling horses to run in a horizontal line; controlling horses to run with both hands free; demonstrating the technique of jumping on and off the horse in an emergency;... Closing the program was an art performance with unique and attractive singing and dancing performances, elaborately staged, divided into 2 chapters with the themes "Radiant Vietnam" and "Vietnam People's Police Integration and Development".
