Cat Ba tourism opening in 2024

On the evening of March 31, at Cat Ba archipelago, the People's Committee of Cat Hai district (Hai Phong) organized the art program "Green Cat Ba 2024".

The program is the highlight of the Festival celebrating the 65th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Cat Hai, opening Cat Ba tourism in 2024. This is also an activity to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam's fisheries industry; the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong's liberation and respond to the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2024.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Cat Hai District People's Committee Bui Tuan Manh said that 65 years ago, on March 31, 1959, beloved President Ho Chi Minh visited the soldiers and people of Cat Hai District. This event demonstrated Uncle Ho's concern for the people and soldiers on the island outpost of the Fatherland. Uncle Ho's advice on the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands "Our golden forests and silver seas are owned by our people" has become the truth and remains relevant today. His image and affectionate words are still there in the mountains, forests and islands here, becoming the motivation for the cadres and people of Cat Hai in the work of protecting, building and developing the island district.

Over the past 65 years, whether in the fierce fire of war or in the period of innovation, integration and development, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Cat Hai district have always fought bravely and tenaciously to protect the island; at the same time, they have been proactive and creative in the construction and development of their homeland, so that Cat Hai, from a pristine island district with only sand and gravel, has become a key marine economic center of Hai Phong city and the northern provinces. The 2024 Cat Hai District Traditional Festival program with 10 activities is like the 10 most beautiful flowers in the flower garden of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style that the Party Committee, government and people of Cat Hai district offer to beloved Uncle Ho.

According to Mr. Bui Tuan Manh, Cat Ba archipelago has received many titles such as being recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve in 2004; recognized by the Prime Minister as a special National Monument for scenic beauty in 2013; Lan Ha Bay was recognized as a member of the World's Most Beautiful Bays Association in 2020. On September 16, 2023, Cat Ba archipelago, along with Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh), was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage. This is also the first inter-provincial and municipal World Natural Heritage in Vietnam.

Mr. Bui Tien Manh affirmed that in recent years, Cat Ba has had unique, different, high-quality tourism products that attract tourists, and is on the way to renew its image, enhance the position and competitiveness of Cat Ba tourism. The opening program of Cat Ba tourism in 2024 is a particularly important event, a message, a respectful invitation to domestic and international tourists to come to Cat Ba to explore and enjoy the flavor of the priceless gift that nature has bestowed upon mankind. Cat Ba, a four-season rendezvous, is ready to open its arms to welcome visitors.

Right after the opening ceremony is the art program "Green Cat Ba 2024". The program includes 3 chapters: Hai Phong, the city I love; Cat Hai - In the footprints of people; Cat Ba - Four-season rendezvous, the art program has the participation of famous singers such as Dam Vinh Hung, Trong Tan, Ho Trung Dung. In addition to the stage at Cat Ba Tourist Center, the program is broadcast live by Hai Phong Radio and Television Station and 20 local Radio and Television Stations from North to South.

Within the framework of the festival, there are also other activities such as: Hot Air Balloon Festival, Fastest X Cat Ba Amatina Run, Cat Hai District Dragon Boat Race (expanded) for Hai Phong Newspaper Cup.
