Typical examples
Lang Chanh is a mountainous district in the southwest of Thanh Hoa province, with ethnic minorities accounting for 89.8%. In the period 2021-2023, each year the district will have about 75 prestigious people among ethnic minorities. These are village elders, clan leaders, village chiefs, retired cadres and skilled workers.
They are shining examples, not only taking the lead in economic development, but also making an important contribution in mobilizing people to implement the policies of the Party and State, building a new cultural life.
One of the typical examples in Lang Chanh is Mr. Le Trung Chong in Tan Phong village, Tan Phuc commune. As a prestigious person in the community, Mr. Chong not only propagates and mobilizes people to actively develop the economy and participate in building new rural areas. Mr. Chong himself donated 3,500 square meters of land and about 150 bamboo bushes that are in the exploitation stage to build roads.
Mr. Le Trung Chong said: I always keep in mind that contributing to the development of the homeland is the responsibility of every citizen. Donating land for road construction is necessary, because it not only helps children have a convenient way to go to school, but also contributes to improving the lives of the people. When the roads are clear, people's trading and exchanging goods are easier, the economy develops more. People in the village and commune are also very unanimous.
With these thoughts in mind, Mr. Chong took the lead in donating land for road construction and mobilized surrounding households to join in donating land and contributing their efforts to build rural roads. This work not only brings immediate benefits, but also lays the foundation for long-term development, contributing to improving the rural appearance of Tan Phuc commune.
A typical example in the field of production labor is Ms. Luong Thi Niem, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of Lang Chanh Safe and Organic Agricultural Cooperative. Ms. Niem has successfully implemented a concentrated safe vegetable production area in Chieng Khat village, Dong Luong commune, with an area of up to 50 hectares. Ms. Niem is not only a pioneer in safe agricultural production, but also actively contributes to the cause of hunger eradication, poverty reduction and new rural construction in the area.
This is a model of cooperation between cooperatives and farming households, helping to consume products for people in and outside the district, while contributing to creating jobs and increasing income for people.
“I always wonder how agricultural production can not only enrich me personally, but also help ethnic minorities escape poverty. I hope that the cooperative will be a place for everyone to develop together, not only economically but also to unite the community, together building a rich and beautiful homeland,” Ms. Niem shared.
Core force spreads positive values
In addition to the above typical examples, Lang Chanh district also has a strong team of intellectuals, prestigious people and ethnic minority businessmen. According to statistics, in 2023, the district had 895 intellectuals and 9 ethnic minority businessmen. These are people who play a particularly important role in spreading positive values and guiding the community. They are shining examples in preserving national cultural identity, pushing back backward customs, and contributing to the success of the National Target Program on socio-economic development in mountainous ethnic minority areas in the period of 2021-2025.
In practice, with the efforts of the entire political system and support from ethnic policies, especially national target programs, along with the sense of self-reliance and self-improvement of typical advanced examples, the solidarity of the people has helped Lang Chanh district make significant progress in developing agriculture, infrastructure, and poverty reduction.
Accordingly, in recent years, the average annual growth rate of production value has reached 16% or more. Average annual income per capita has increased; in 2023, it will reach 28.9 million VND/person/year. The poverty rate has decreased from 33.57% in 2021 to 21.2% at the end of 2023.
