In 2025, An Giang aims to promote the development of the service and tourism sector, ensuring double-digit economic growth, along with many breakthrough solutions to reach the 5-year plan 2021-2025, creating momentum for growth in the coming period.

Strengthen communication and promotion of An Giang tourism products and destinations

Many bright spots

Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Minh Hung said that in the first quarter of 2025, trade and service activities have improved. Wholesale and retail sales of goods and services are estimated at VND 66,004 billion, up 15.58% over the same period. Import and export have achieved positive results, with key export items of the province growing over the same period. Total import and export turnover of goods in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated at 459 million USD, equivalent to the same period. Of which, export turnover is estimated at 302 million USD, up 0.46% over the same period.

Regarding tourism, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Khanh Hiep said: In the first quarter of 2025, An Giang welcomed about 4.1 million visitors (equivalent to the same period, estimated at 41% of the 2025 plan). Of which, international visitors are estimated at 8,000 (equivalent to the same period). Tourism revenue is estimated at 4,700 billion VND (up 4.4% over the same period, estimated at 44% of the 2025 plan). Well organize cultural - artistic activities, traditional festivals, such as: Cultural heritage exhibition space... In particular, organize the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing the intangible cultural heritage of the Festival of Ba Chua Xu in Sam Mountain on the List of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity...

In 2025, the province aims to increase GRDP by 10% or more. Of which, the service sector will increase by 12.15%. Improve competitiveness and export quality by increasing the proportion of exports of goods with deep processing and high technology content, associated with expanding the scale of exports, in order to effectively exploit signed Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Expand export markets for key products of the province. Diversify forms of market management and develop a modern goods distribution system. Regarding trade, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue strive to reach 140,000 billion VND, with an estimated export turnover of 1.23 billion USD.

The tourism sector strives to welcome 10 million or more visitors by 2025. Revenue from tourism activities is estimated to reach 10,800 billion VND or more. Effectively exploit tourism potential, develop An Giang into an attractive tourism destination, contribute to preserving and promoting cultural values, creating livelihoods for the community, promoting economic restructuring, and developing service industries.

Tasks, solutions

In the service sector, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung said: “The province continues to closely monitor market developments to promptly have solutions to ensure supply and demand of goods, stabilize the market, and develop the distribution system. Support businesses, promote domestic and foreign trade. Expand credit effectively, especially in priority areas (rural agriculture, export, supporting industry, high-tech application...). Support start-up businesses, associated with the implementation of key credit policies of the industry, programs and projects of the province”.

Strive to welcome over 10 million tourists, with total revenue reaching 11,000 billion VND. To promote tourism development, the province is interested in surveying, expanding and upgrading traffic routes connecting to tourist areas. Developing 5G network, free public Wi-Fi system at tourist spots, centers, bus stations... High-speed optical cable to tourist spots, helping to support digital tourism services. Training digital tourism human resources; supporting tourism businesses to apply IoT technology in monitoring tourist traffic and protecting the environment. At the same time, organizing cultural - artistic, physical training and sports activities. Developing projects to preserve and promote heritage values: Di Ke performance art of Khmer people in An Giang; weaving craft of Cham people in An Giang; Life cycle rituals of Cham people in An Giang... Applying digital technology at tourist areas and spots, such as: QR codes to annotate and introduce tourism products; Virtual reality model introduces tourist areas and points on cyberspace...

“The important point is to innovate and diversify tourism products. The Department of Science and Technology should strengthen communication and promote tourism areas, spots, and destinations in An Giang via text messages and social networking platforms, making it easier for tourists to access when coming to An Giang. In particular, it is necessary to increase the application of modern technology and implement QR codes for promotion at tourism areas and spots,” Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy suggested.
