This is one of the first two specialized 10th grade exams in the country. From 6:30 a.m., many candidates and parents gathered in front of the gate of the Gifted High School in District 5. In addition to the main campus, the school also has two exam sites at the Chu Van An Continuing Education Center and Hong Bang Secondary School, both in this district.
In the morning, candidates took turns taking the Literature and English exams. Nguyen Tri Bao, a student at Ngo Tat To Secondary School in Ho Chi Minh City, considered the exam a "star of hope" and practiced for the upcoming 10th grade entrance exam in the city.
"I'm not worried or stressed because there's still the city's general exam," Bao said, adding that he had studied quite carefully. Along with his wish to enter the English major class, Bao also applied to Le Hong Phong and Nguyen Thuong Hien High Schools for the Gifted.

In addition to 9th graders in Ho Chi Minh City, many students come from provinces and cities in the Central Highlands, Central and Western regions. Dr. Tran Nam Dung, Vice Principal of the school, said that about 25% of the candidates come from provinces outside Ho Chi Minh City.
