On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the Department of Tourism coordinated with the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and the Vietnamese Village Communal House Club to organize the program "Ao Dai connecting tourism and heritage of Hanoi for the first time - 2023".
Accordingly, parade participants will wear traditional ao dai and cycle through the streets and historical and heritage sites of Hanoi.
Ms. Hoang Thi Tuyet Hang brought her daughter Le Minh Chau to participate in the program at Thang Long Imperial Citadel early. Ms. Hang said that her daughter was unlucky and could not see, but she really liked the programs related to the country's heritage. Even though she could not see, she wanted to come to the event to join in the atmosphere with everyone.
The starting point was at Thang Long Imperial Citadel with more than 100 people, including both men and women wearing traditional ao dai participating in the parade.
The parade will go through streets with many tourist attractions in Hanoi such as: Hoang Dieu - Dien Bien Phu - Doc Lap (Ba Dinh Square) - Hoang Van Thu - Hung Vuong - Thanh Nien (Tran Quoc Pagoda) - Phan Dinh Phung - Hang Dau - Tran Nhat Duat - O Quan Chuong - Hang Chieu - Dong Xuan - Hang Khoai - Hang Luoc - Cha Ca - Luong Van Can - Le Thai To - Hang Khay - Dinh Tien Hoang (Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square)...
The parade went on Hung Vuong Street, past the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the National Assembly building.
A long line of cyclists moved along Thanh Nien Street.

This is also an event to stimulate tourism, attract domestic and international tourists, and promote and introduce Hanoi tourist destinations.
The organizers said that the program attracted the response of officials and civil servants of agencies and units in Hanoi, along with many people of the capital, domestic and international friends.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism - said that through organizing the program to promote and introduce Hanoi tourist destinations, it is also a new experience activity to attract a large number of domestic and international tourists to the capital Hanoi, thereby stimulating tourism demand.
In addition to stimulating tourism, this activity also exploits and honors the traditional ao dai of the Vietnamese people associated with heritage and tourism to preserve and develop the traditional cultural values of the nation.
Mr. David Cousin (red ao dai, French nationality) has lived and worked in Vietnam for 15 years. As a teacher at the French high school Lycée français Alexandre Yersin in Hanoi, Mr. Cousin often wears the Vietnamese five-panel ao dai to participate in cultural events as well as meet friends and relatives.
The program is more meaningful when held on the occasion of National Day September 2nd when many streets are decorated with slogans celebrating Independence Day.
A group of people wearing Ao Dai cycled through the O Quan Chuong relic, an old town area bustling with people's activities in the morning.
Dong Xuan Market is also a familiar symbol of the capital's people and was also passed by the parade.
This is the first time the Hanoi tourism industry has organized an Ao Dai parade, so we hope it will become an annual activity on the occasion of National Day, September 2nd, creating an elegant and civilized beauty with green means of transport to protect the environment and attract tourists to Hanoi.
Turtle Tower has become an indispensable symbol when mentioning Hanoi.
At 8:45 a.m., the parade ended at the August Revolution Square.
Ngoc Luong and Tra My (Hanoi) were very excited to participate in the parade. Ngoc Luong said that she often participates in programs promoting Ao Dai because in daily life she rarely has the opportunity to wear it.
As for Tra My, wearing the ao dai and cycling through the heritages of the capital makes her feel proud as she contributes a small part to promoting the image of Hanoi to international friends.
