On the morning of February 21, the Ministry of National Defense held a national online conference to review defense work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025. Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army chaired the conference. Attending the conference at the Ha Giang province bridge were comrade Vuong Ngoc Ha, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

In 2024, the Ministry of National Defense closely coordinated with central and local departments, ministries and branches to grasp, assess and forecast the situation correctly, so national defense work continued to comprehensively complete the set plan targets. The whole country organized training on national defense and security knowledge for over 406,000 subjects and over 3 million students. The combination of socio-economic development with national defense and security was closely ensured; the actual strength, potential and defense posture were strengthened; the strength to protect the Fatherland was enhanced, creating a peaceful and stable environment for national development. In Ha Giang province, 100% of militia and self-defense bases were trained at the district level; 47 communes, wards and towns in the defense area organized combat drills in accordance with regulations. The organization of the handover of 950 citizens ensured absolute safety. The work of fostering national defense and security knowledge for subjects 2 and 3 met the targets assigned by the Military Region and exceeded the targets of the province. The awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life towards national defense and security tasks were raised, contributing to maintaining political stability in the area.
Concluding the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, emphasized the tasks and solutions to effectively carry out the national defense tasks in 2025. First of all, it is necessary to focus on strengthening the leadership of the Party and state management of national defense and military; being proactive, sensitive, improving research capacity, and accurately forecasting strategic issues that directly affect national defense and military tasks. It is necessary to continue to effectively implement the policy of combining national defense and security with socio-economic development. Along with that, it is necessary to pay attention to building the potential, forces, and defense posture. Improving the quality of activities of reserve forces and militia and self-defense forces.
