On February 14, the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) in collaboration with Meta Group, Vietnet Information Technology - Communications Center (Vietnet-ICT) and VTC Netviet Technology and Communications Joint Stock Company opened the course "Digital skills and internet safety for students".
Equipping students with digital skills and self-protection knowledge is more urgent than ever.
The course is designed systematically, easy to understand, suitable for the psychology and receptiveness of middle and high school students, including 5 main topics: introduction to the digital world; basic digital knowledge; digital health; digital interaction; preventing fraud on the Internet.
The topics not only provide theoretical knowledge but also have practical exercises and real-life situations to help students practice critical thinking and self-protection skills in the online environment. In particular, the content is updated according to the latest technology trends, helping students not only use the internet safely but also know how to effectively exploit digital platforms for learning and personal development.
Through the course, middle and high school students will be equipped with essential knowledge including digital skills and online safety. The highlight of the program is the special attention paid to deaf and hard-of-hearing students as the learning materials are designed to incorporate sign language in teaching, suitable for their learning ability.
This is a meaningful first step, opening up equal access to knowledge for all students, including children with disabilities, to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to stay safe online.
According to the Information Security Department, in the context of strong technological development, children and adolescents spend most of their time online for learning, entertainment and communication. However, along with the benefits are risks such as online bullying, cyber fraud, privacy violations and internet addiction. Therefore, equipping students with digital skills and knowledge to protect themselves is more urgent than ever.
The course is completely free, with flexible and convenient study time; providing comprehensive skills, helping students confidently use the internet safely and effectively.
