The match between Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) and LPBank HAGL Club in round 25 of V-League 2023 - 2024 saw a rain of goals, when coach Alexandre Polking's students had an impressive "5-star" victory over an opponent struggling in the relegation race. With a very heavy loss, LPBank HAGL dropped to 12th place. Although still holding the right to decide when 2 points ahead of SLNA, coach Vu Tien Thanh's team must win in the final round to decide their own fate.
On the rankings, LPBank HAGL is 2 points ahead of SLNA. In case the two teams have the same points in the final round (LPBank HAGL draws, SLNA wins), SLNA will be ranked higher due to a better goal difference (equal head-to-head difference, each team has a 1-0 win). Therefore, victory is the only way for Mr. Vu Tien Thanh and his team to be sure of staying in the league, without having to wait for the result of the match against SLNA.

Coach Vu Tien Thanh shared: "In football, anything can happen. I have prepared for every situation. LPBank HAGL has prepared its players for the play-off match. Without 3 foreign players, I have planned for an all-domestic squad. In my opinion, teams like SLNA and LPBank HAGL will have an advantage when playing the play-off match."
LPBank HAGL's strategist shared more about the heavy 0-5 loss to CAHN Club: "Our goal in this match is 1 point. If we can draw, the last match will be easier. After the foreign player's red card, we played with the hope of ending the match with a score of 0-0. However, the team conceded a goal in the 43rd minute. CAHN Club is very strong in controlling the match, so losing a player is a disadvantage. When conceding the second goal, I accepted defeat and had to withdraw my troops to prepare for the final match with Hai Phong."
According to coach Vu Tien Thanh, the majority of LPBank HAGL players are young and inexperienced, so if they can stay in the V-League, the players will mature.
Coach Vu Tien Thanh and Mr. Polking are in opposite situations.
"If they stay in the league, they will gain experience, which cannot be taught, but must be gained on the field. I have been in the situation of relegation many times, like when I was coaching Ho Chi Minh City Club. I have the responsibility to convey to the players. By now, if I had not been able to convey motivation to the players, LPBank HAGL might have been relegated," Mr. Thanh affirmed.
In contrast to coach Vu Tien Thanh, coach Polking of CAHN Club immediately thought about... next season. The Brazilian strategist affirmed: "I am very happy with this victory, when the players can show gratitude to the audience. CAHN Club has implemented the right style of play. Currently, the team still has a lot of work to do. Tomorrow, I will meet with the club's leaders to prepare for next season's plan. We need a transfer plan, to build a balanced team between the lines. CAHN Club has young players, they are all very ready."
