(Dan Tri) - The Ben Rung bridge project connecting Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong) and Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh) is nearly 2km long, with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND, and is about to open to traffic.
Ben Rung Bridge is designed to be over 1.87km long, 21.5m wide, with 4 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes, along with synchronous auxiliary infrastructure such as safety strips, median strips, lighting systems, traffic safety equipment... with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND. The investment capital is used from the central budget, Hai Phong city budget and Quang Ninh province budget. This is a key transport project, a cooperation between the two localities of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong with the goal of inter-regional connectivity, contributing to improving the capacity of transport services. The project also promotes solidarity and close relationship between the people of the two localities, gradually completing the transport network of the key economic region of the North. Ben Rung Bridge connecting the two banks of Da Bach River is built at a location about 3.7km upstream from the current Rung Ferry, about 4.3km from Chanh River Bridge and about 6.4km from National Highway 18. With a length of more than 1.87km, the main bridge is a continuous prestressed concrete girder bridge with a length of about 490m, the approach bridge consists of 34 girder spans (Hai Phong city side has 14 spans, Quang Ninh province side has 20 spans). The main bridge and approach bridges are 21.5m wide, including 4 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes; the clearance height is 11m, the approach roads on both sides are more than 0.4km long; the main bridge design speed is 80km/h. Construction started on May 13, 2022, the project has a contract implementation period of 24 months, and has so far completed over 96% of the work. Contractors are continuing to urgently construct and complete the remaining items of the project, striving to technically open Ben Rung Bridge to traffic on May 13, on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2024). Electricity workers install lighting system of Ben Rung bridge. Workers construct the railing system of the road leading to Ben Rung bridge in Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh). Lighting equipment on the approach road to the bridge was also urgently installed by workers. Cable-stayed system of Ben Rung bridge. Expansion joints on bridges. The Ben Rung Bridge approach road project in Quang Ninh province was approved for investment by the Provincial People's Committee at the end of 2022. The approach road system is 2.2km long, starting at Ben Rung Bridge and ending at the intersection of Provincial Road 338, passing through Song Khoai commune, Quang Yen town. The access road system is designed according to the level III delta standard with 6 lanes, including 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for mixed vehicles,... The project started construction in May 2023, with a total adjusted investment capital of nearly 360 billion VND from the Quang Ninh provincial budget. Quang Ninh province aims to complete the access road system project, ensuring conditions for putting it into operation next June. The Ben Rung Bridge is the third bridge connecting Quang Ninh province with Hai Phong city, after Da Bac and Bach Dang bridges. The completed bridge will help people in Quang Yen town and Thuy Nguyen district to travel quickly, without having to wait 30-60 minutes for the Rung ferry, or having to travel 40km to Highway 18 and then turn around to Highway 10 as before.
