According to initial information, on November 6, Air Force Regiment 940, Air Force Officer School (Air Defense - Air Force) organized a daytime training flight at Phu Cat airport, with Yak-130 aircraft (registration number 210 D), flying lesson 208, long-distance flight - airspace - through clouds in complex meteorological conditions, led by Colonel Nguyen Van Son, Regiment Commander, flying in the front cabin and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, Flight Chief, flying in the back cabin.
This is the third flight, the second flight of the front cabin pilot in the flight crew of the day.
The plane took off at 9:55 a.m., and at 10:38 a.m., when the return flight ended, the pilot reported that the plane's landing gear could not be released. He also took emergency measures to handle the situation but was still unsuccessful. The pilot reported to the flight commander and was allowed to parachute. The two pilots parachuted at 10:51 a.m. in the area of the National Military Training Center 2.
The Air Defense - Air Force Service has presided over and coordinated with forces of Military Region 5 and localities to urgently organize forces and means for ground and air search and rescue.
The Binh Dinh Provincial Military Command said that two pilots parachuted out of the plane at coordinates in Tay Xuan commune, Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province.
The pilot has not yet been found and the location of the crash site and the extent of the damage are unknown.
The Binh Dinh Provincial Military Command has established a temporary command center, deployed a standing force of 82 people and 60 militia forces to coordinate with relevant units to search and rescue.
