Immediately, the school cleaned up all the furniture in the multi-purpose hall, bought instant noodles, milk, bottled water, blankets, pillows, etc., and prepared to welcome the people.

Unused boarding supplies such as foam mats, sheepskin blankets, and wool blankets were brought from the school's warehouse to serve the people.

According to Ms. Phuong, the multi-purpose house has an area of about 500 square meters, with a capacity of 150-200 people.

In case students switch to online learning, taking advantage of all 40 classrooms with an area of about 57m2 each, the school's capacity can reach up to a thousand people.

According to Ms. Phuong, currently there are no residents staying here because the wards are taking advantage of the cultural house, but the school is ready to welcome people at any time.

At Dong Ngac A Primary School, the entire 300m2 gymnasium was also rearranged into a community house, with a capacity of about 80 people. The entire area was sprayed with mosquito repellent, clean and dry, inside were placed 40 temporary beds, covered with plastic mats, blankets and pillows arranged at the head of the bed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, the school's principal, said that preparations for the temporary shelter of people from flooded areas had been made since last weekend.

In addition to the gym, Dong Ngac A Primary School also requisitioned 4 other classrooms, each room can accommodate 20 people, fully equipped with blankets, pillows, drinking water and instant food. The total number of people the school can accommodate is 160 people.

However, Ms. Huong said that if the population is larger, the school is still able to arrange more safe accommodation.

"The school is ready to receive people coming to avoid the flood. The staff, teachers and parents of the school also contributed money to buy some essential foods to serve the people.

We currently have 35 boxes of instant noodles, 15 boxes of fresh milk, 450 dry food bars, 20 20-liter bottles of clean water, and 500 bottles of mineral water.

Depending on the actual situation, we will mobilize more food supplies to ensure that people coming here are safe, warm and healthy," said Ms. Huong.

Currently, the learning of students at the two schools is taking place normally. However, some teachers have difficulty going to school to teach because they live in flooded areas.

Throughout Hanoi, many schools in high areas were also mobilized to serve as shelters for people in flooded areas. Teachers were assigned to cook and clean for the people.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 1 p.m., the water level on the Red River in Hanoi was 11.14 meters (0.36 meters below alert level 3).

Many localities have asked all households in flood-prone areas to evacuate, and cut off power to flooded areas to ensure safety.

The Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command of Phu Thuong Ward (Tay Ho District) has just issued a notice requesting all households living in Residential Groups 1, 15, and 16 outside the Red River dike to evacuate before 6:00 p.m. on September 11.

Phu Thuong Ward will organize forced relocation of households that refuse to move.
