Powerful digital transformation
Sharing at the workshop, Mr. Do Hong Cam, Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam affirmed that digital transformation helps fundamentally innovate all business activities and innovate the way people live and work.
In line with the national digital transformation goal, the Ministry of Transport has issued a digital transformation program until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
With the Vietnamese aviation industry in connection with the international aviation system, the task of digital transformation of the entire industry is being strongly implemented, achieving practical results, effectively consolidating aviation security and safety.
Mr. Do Hong Cam, Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, spoke at the workshop.
"The important issue now is to use shared digital platforms, thereby helping organizations and businesses become leaner and smarter, making business products and services more competitive, improving the efficiency of state operations, and increasing business profits," said Mr. Cam.
According to the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, currently, a number of agencies and enterprises in the Vietnamese aviation industry have used shared platforms such as Vietnam Airlines exploiting digital platforms GPS, AITS, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) also uses shared digital platforms to improve the effectiveness of flight safety assurance.
With ACV, a shared digital platform has been deployed at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai International Airports. The application of the digital platform has helped reduce aircraft taxiing time, contributing to reducing CO2 emissions and building a smart, modern airport.
According to IATA forecasts, passenger growth in the aviation industry is expected to double by 2041. Building and operating larger airports is increasingly difficult, so the use of a shared digital platform is extremely important, helping airports and state management agencies to be more flexible and operate more effectively with new developments.

Mr. Do Hong Cam emphasized that the Vietnamese aviation industry will strengthen digital transformation and in this process, it needs cooperation and assistance from national organizations in terms of experience, people, resources and related information.
"The presence of IATA is a testament to the active, effective and persistent support and assistance of countries and international organizations for the safe and sustainable development of Vietnamese aviation over the years," Mr. Cam shared.
Apply biometrics, contactless procedures
Mr. Vinoop Goel - Director of Airports and External Relations of IATA in the Asia - Pacific region assessed that currently, many airports and aviation infrastructure are overloaded. To meet the increasing passenger traffic in the next 20 years, the world aviation industry needs to do more, including promoting digital technology.
Overview of the "One ID" workshop.
"Currently, many processes such as check-in and boarding are still based on long-established technologies that use a lot of paperwork. These are outdated technologies in the current context and are something we have to address," said Mr. Vinoop Goel.
Meanwhile, Ms. Shu Hui Bian, Director of Passenger Experience, Safety and Security Operations of IATA Asia - Pacific introduced, One ID is a digital technology to help passengers have paperless trips. Documents will be checked before the trip starts based on digital identification methods.
Passengers will request clearance from the destination to meet the on-board procedures. Information will be checked in advance and remotely so that passengers arriving at the airport will be ready to fly.
One ID is one of the advanced models, contributing to improving the passenger experience, while optimizing the check-in procedures at the airport, bringing many benefits to passengers and stakeholders in the aviation industry, helping passengers to check in contactlessly, check in via biometrics and go to all contact points at the airport without having to declare information.
“With digital identification, the quality of customer data sent to airlines will ensure higher accuracy, increase cycle efficiency, reduce congestion, increase passenger satisfaction and increase aviation industry revenue while still protecting personal information,” said Ms. Shu Hui Bian.
As the unit managing and operating 22 airports across the country, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is implementing a strong digital transformation roadmap, increasing the application of modern technology in flight and passenger service chains.
Sharing about the ACV-ID solution that has been applied at a number of airports, an ACV representative said that the enterprise has pioneered testing the biometric authentication solution for passengers throughout the journey (ACV ID) at Phu Bai airport (Thua Thien Hue province) and Dien Bien airport (Dien Bien province).
This is a solution that ACV cooperated with RAR Center - Center for Research and Application of Population Data and Identification under the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order - C06, Ministry of Public Security, providing a completely new experience with pre-boarding procedures.
This solution allows the use of the national population database in the process of information authentication using biometric identification technology, images and the ability to accurately verify information.
Thanks to that, ACV ID allows automation of all security check procedures, while accurately comparing passenger information and identification documents with information at the national population data center.
ACV representative affirmed that they will continue to coordinate with relevant departments to prepare steps according to the roadmap, accelerate the digitalization process, and improve the optimal experience for passengers when passing through affiliated airports. At the same time, affirming Vietnam's efforts on the regional and global scale.
