Attending the ceremony were leaders of Kitakyushu Water Supply and Sewerage Department (Japan), Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, Northern Water Supply and Sewerage Association, Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association Hai Phong and Departments and branches of Hai Phong City.
Previously, Hai Phong city and Kitakyushu city signed a friendship cooperation agreement on April 17, 2009 and upgraded their relationship to sister city in April 2014. After 15 years (2009-2024) of cooperation and development, up to now, the two sides have had many important and highly effective programs and supports, of which the most typical is the cooperation in research on treating organic substances in water using environmentally friendly uBCF biological treatment technology.
Speaking at the Signing Ceremony, Mr. Tran Viet Cuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hai Phong Water Supply Joint Stock Company, said: Currently, Hai Phong is facing a situation where raw water resources are increasingly declining in quality and reserves; saltwater intrusion is increasing due to climate change... requiring research on solutions to protect and improve raw water resources, applying new water treatment technologies that adapt to adverse fluctuations in water resources such as: membrane filtration technology, using Ozone, treating saline water... as well as continuing to improve the efficiency of uBCF technology in Hai Phong.
At the same time, along with the trend of digital transformation in industries, the application of smart meters, information technology solutions... to improve management capacity also requires effective research and implementation. Based on the practical situation, Hai Phong Water Supply and Kitakyushu City Water Supply and Drainage Department have agreed on the content of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, comprehensive technical support in the fields of water supply as well as continuing to further improve the effectiveness of uBCF technology in Hai Phong and Vietnam.
According to Mr. Tran Viet Cuong, marking 15 years of cooperation between Hai Phong Water Supply Company and Kitakyushu City Water Supply Department, from the achievements and results, up to now, Hai Phong Water Supply Company and Kitakyushu City Water Supply and Drainage Department have become dear friends and colleagues.
Mr. Mochiyama, Director of the Water Supply and Sewerage Department of Kitakyushu City, affirmed that Kitakyushu City was the first to apply uBCF, which has been operating for more than 20 years. With that experience, it will certainly help to effectively operate uBCF at An Duong Water Plant (Hai Phong).
According to the Memorandum of Understanding on ensuring the operation of the u-BCF filter tank at An Duong water plant between Hai Phong Water Supply Joint Stock Company and Kitakyushu City Water Supply and Drainage Department, in order to promote the widespread use of u-BCF filter tanks in Vietnam, the two sides agreed: Hai Phong Water Supply and Kitakyushu City Water Supply and Drainage Department will carry out joint activities in the operation, maintenance and improvement of the treatment efficiency of the U-BCF tank at An Duong Water Plant; Hai Phong Water Supply and Kitakyushu City Water Supply and Drainage Department will coordinate technical research to improve the water supply capacity of Hai Phong City; Cooperation will expand to research on the application of new water treatment technology as well as solutions to protect and enhance raw water resources in Hai Phong City...
The implementation of the contents of this memorandum of understanding will open a new phase; resolve difficulties and challenges in the new situation, create new achievements and successes to meet water supply needs, improve the water supply capacity of Hai Phong Water Supply and Kitakyushu City Water Supply Department, and at the same time make the relationship between the two sides stronger and more lasting.
