Hai Phong: Enterprises propose departments and branches to join hands in digital transformation with Customs

(HQ Online) - To maximize the benefits from the digital transformation process of the Customs agency, businesses suggest that relevant departments and branches in Hai Phong need to make improvements to create synchronization.

Export to many major markets

At the Dialogue Conference with Import-Export Enterprises in 2024 with the theme "Cooperation - Development - Efficiency" organized by Hai Phong City People's Committee on March 20, Mr. Truong Gia Huy, General Director of Dong A Aluminum Company Limited shared: The company was established in 2006, in Tan Dan Industrial Cluster (Chi Linh City, Hai Duong) with a total investment capital of 73 million USD.

Dong A Aluminum Company Limited is an FDI enterprise from Hong Kong (China).

In October 2023, the Company officially put into operation the second phase expansion project of the factory, thereby increasing the total area to 100,000 ^m2 , with an output of more than 60,000 tons/year.

The products are mainly for export, in 2023 alone the Company exported more than 40,000 tons, an increase of 20% over the previous year. The Company's products are exported to many major markets such as the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe, etc.

In 2023, the Company's revenue will reach 2,500 billion VND, contributing over 300 billion VND to the budget. In 2024, the Company strives to achieve revenue of 4,500 billion VND and contributing 450 billion VND to the budget.

Expectation of synchronous reform

Presenting recommendations at the Conference, the Company's leaders said that the company regularly buys and sells raw materials and supplies with foreign partners. Then, the foreign partners assign businesses in Vietnam to deliver goods to Dong A Aluminum Company Limited.

Therefore, the Company is currently facing difficulties related to on-site import and export procedures.

Regarding this problem, Director of Hai Phong Customs Department Nguyen Duy Ngoc said that the issue raised by the enterprise is related to regulations in legal documents, so Hai Phong Customs Department will promptly report to the General Department of Customs for resolution.

“Businesses know that Hai Phong Customs Department is focusing resources to be ready to deploy Digital Customs and the Smart Customs model according to the plan of the General Department of Customs and trying to become one of the first units of the whole industry to successfully pilot this plan. For a city that is strong in import and export with millions of declarations and turnover of tens of billions of USD each year like Hai Phong, the benefits of Digital Customs and the Smart Customs model will be enormous. However, for this model to operate smoothly, businesses suggest that other agencies, departments and sectors also need to improve to be able to synchronize and fully utilize the benefits that Digital Customs brings,” Mr. Truong Gia Huy added.

The leader of Dong A Aluminum Company Limited cited: When carrying out customs procedures, enterprises already have a complete set of documents such as declarations, invoices, C/O, quality inspection documents... and are attached to the Customs system. Therefore, other agencies, departments and branches can take advantage of this file information to continue with the procedures, reducing some steps for enterprises.

“In addition, it is also possible to digitize the storage of documents. Instead of storing paper documents, they can be stored online to make it easier to access data sources,” said Mr. Truong Gia Huy.
