Erling Haaland set an impressive record in Man City 's 3-0 win over Bayern Munich at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on the morning of April 12 (Vietnam time).
By scoring against goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the 76th minute, Erling Haaland set a record as the first Premier League player to score 45 goals in all competitions in a season.

The Norwegian striker has broken the previous record of 44 goals scored by Mohamed Salah for Liverpool (2017/18 season) and Ruud van Nistelrooy for Man Utd (2002/03 season). In this season's Champions League, Erling Haaland is leading the "Top scorer" list with 11 goals after only 9 matches. The 22-year-old striker is also the "Top scorer" in the Premier League with 30 goals for the Etihad team. Returning to the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, coach Pep Guardiola's team is considered to have one foot in the semi-finals thanks to a 3-goal advantage, although The Citizen still have 90 minutes left in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals next week. Man City took the lead over Bayern thanks to an excellent first-half goal by Rodri in the 27th minute of the match. The Norwegian striker closed out the first leg with a precise tap-in from John Stones' pass in the 76th minute. According to the Mirror, Haaland's goal was a typical "poacher's" goal. "A really, really good goal from Manchester City. It was a smart header from Stones. It went across and he wasn't offside, which I don't think the Bayern players counted on. It was a smart header and we knew Haaland would kill them. He kept his patience, Haaland got the assist and now he's got his own goal," commented Lucy Ward, former Leeds United striker.
