The US House of Representatives on September 20 unanimously passed a bill to strengthen security for Mr. Trump, a move that came after the former US president was assassinated twice.
According to ABC News, the bill, called the Presidential Security Enhancement Act, was passed in the US House of Representatives with 405 votes in favor and no votes against. The bill will now move to the US Senate, and its prospects are currently unclear.

In addition, the US House of Representatives also officially expanded the authority of its task force to investigate two failed assassination attempts on former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania (USA) and at a golf course in Florida.
The US Secret Service also announced on September 18 that former President Trump would receive increased security. "President Joe Biden has directed the Secret Service to provide the same level of security to both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump. It will be the same presidential level of security that Mr. Biden receives, and we understand that that level of security is being implemented," said senior member Jason Crow of the US Secret Service.
The bill passed the House just a week after the Secret Service found an armed suspect hiding in bushes near the golf course where Mr Trump was staying. The gunman fled and was later arrested by authorities. This is the second assassination attempt on Mr Trump in two months.
Previously, former President Trump was also shot in the ear by a 20-year-old gunman while he was campaigning outdoors in Pennsylvania. This incident led to the resignation of US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and the firing of several employees.
Reuters quoted Acting Director of the US Secret Service Ronald Rowe on September 20 as saying that the agency had discovered a lack of communication and diligence among security personnel in the failed assassination attempt on Mr. Trump in Pennsylvania. "Some Secret Service agents had a complacent attitude that led to a violation of security protocols. We will apply penalties according to the agency's disciplinary process."
