The family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoang (second from right) is one of the households receiving livelihood model support from the "For the Poor" Fund.

The family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung (born in 1962), residing in Hop Tien residential group - Thach Linh ward (Ha Tinh city), is a poor household and a policy beneficiary. Mr. Dung and his wife are in poor health and often get sick; they worship their brother, a martyr, in the family's small house.

Their son, Nguyen Huu Hoang (born in 1994), has not yet started a family of his own due to the burden of caring for and supporting his elderly parents. Not letting poverty continue, 3 years ago, Hoang boldly borrowed money to open a small aluminum and glass shop.

Sharing and supporting Mr. Hoang's determination to escape poverty, the Fatherland Front Committee of Thach Linh Ward proposed to the superiors to allow Mr. Hoang to receive support for a livelihood model from the province's "For the Poor" Fund. In early October 2023, Mr. Hoang was approved for a livelihood model support of 10 million VND.

Mr. Hoang shared: “This money will help me have more capital to expand the scale and find more customers. I will try to develop the model, increase income to help my family escape poverty sustainably.”

With more capital, Mr. Hoang plans to expand his business to increase income.

Mr. Hoang is one of the households benefiting from the program to support 100 livelihood models worth nearly 1 billion VND from the province's "For the Poor" Fund in 2023. If in Ha Tinh city, households receive support to develop service business models, in most other localities, the Fatherland Front at all levels will choose models suitable to the actual conditions and needs of the people such as: cows, goats, crops...

Chairman of the Huong Khe District Fatherland Front Committee Ha Van Dan said: "The Fatherland Front has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to review and grasp the situation and actual needs; prioritize the selection of poor households but with the ability to work and production conditions to propose suitable livelihood models, for the highest poverty reduction efficiency."

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels actively mobilize resources to support the livelihoods of the poor.

During the peak month of “For the Poor” this year (October 17 - November 18), in addition to the program to support 100 livelihood models from the province’s “For the Poor” Fund, localities also actively mobilized resources to support and create a sustainable way out of poverty for people.

Chairman of the Duc Tho District Fatherland Front Committee Bui Ngoc Nhat informed: "Since the beginning of the year, in addition to 7 models of breeding goats and crops supported by the province, the district Fatherland Front Committee has mobilized 26 sows worth 260 million VND to support poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households...".

Hundreds of livelihood models have come to the people, helping them have a basis to escape poverty.

According to a report from the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, since the beginning of the year, the Fatherland Front at all levels has mobilized 2.28 billion VND to support production development for 492 poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households. The Provincial "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee supported 100 livelihood models worth nearly 1 billion VND, helping the poor develop production and create conditions to escape poverty...

The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has also guided the Fatherland Front at all levels to classify and review poor households to have appropriate support plans. For households with only elderly people who are no longer able to work, they will be encouraged to live with their children and grandchildren or mobilize their relatives and neighbors to support them; households that are still able to work and have the will to escape poverty will be supported in their livelihoods. Along with that, coordinate with localities and organizations to organize training on knowledge and techniques, assign staff in charge of monitoring and guiding poor households in the production process.

During the peak month of “For the Poor” this year, in addition to the housing support program, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels also focused on mobilizing resources to support the livelihoods of the poor; providing advice and guidance on techniques and production methods; and closely monitoring to help people promote the value of the model.

Support not only provides people with a livelihood but also helps them change their mindset to escape poverty. When people have the desire and will to escape poverty, support from all levels and sectors will be truly effective.
