On the morning of December 13 at Noi Bai International Airport, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) held a reception to congratulate the Vietnamese team on their excellent achievements at the 21st International Junior Science Olympiad 2024.
The International Junior Science Olympiad is a prestigious competition for students under 15 years old, organized by the Ministries of Education and Training of countries around the world. The competition aims to encourage students to have early access to practical scientific knowledge, create momentum for global educational cooperation, and is an opportunity for cultural exchange between students and teachers.
Reporting the results of the delegation, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Pham Quoc Toan said that this year's International Junior Science Olympiad took place in Romania from December 2 to 12 with the participation of more than 303 students from 52 countries and territories.
The Vietnamese delegation had 2 observers, 3 teachers and 6 students. The students took the Natural Science exam in 3 subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, each subject had 3 tests including: Objective test; Theory test; Practical test. The delegation also participated in many cultural exchange programs with the host country and international delegations and was highly appreciated for its friendliness.
As a result, all 6 Hanoi students won medals, including 5 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal.
Of these, 5 students won Silver Medals including: Le Tung Lam, Le Gia Hong Minh, Nguyen Ngoc Que Chi (Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted), Vuong Ha Chi, Vu Nhat Long (Newton Secondary - High School). The remaining member of the team that won Bronze Medal was Nguyen Thanh Nhan (Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted).
Congratulating the excellent achievements of the students participating in the exam and the schools and families of the students taking the exam, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that the achievements of the students are the result of their own efforts and the close support of the school and family. This proud result is a milestone and a motivation for the students to continue striving for even higher achievements.
At the ceremony, Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 students and 5 staff and teachers who participated in training and coaching students in the recent exam.
For many years, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has been assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training and the City People's Committee to select and establish student delegations to participate in the IJSO exam and have achieved excellent results, contributing to affirming the quality and prestige of Vietnam's leading education to other countries.
Through the years of participating in the competition (from 2007 to 2023), the Hanoi team, representing Vietnam, has always achieved high results with a total of 77 medals, including 16 Gold Medals.
