Korean professor with the article "Hanoi is the golden star in my heart" won the Special Prize in the writing contest about Hanoi

On October 26, in Hanoi, the program of summarizing and awarding the writing contest “Hanoi in me” and the festival of peace and friendship melodies “Echoes of the city of peace” took place. The program was organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being awarded the title “City for Peace” by UNESCO.

Attending the program were Mr. Uong Chu Luu - Former member of the Party Central Committee, Former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee; Mr. Dong Huy Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Ms. Tran Thi Phuong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations and representatives of the Embassies of Laos, Palestine, Myanmar, Korea... in Vietnam.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong, Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, said that the writing contest “Hanoi in me” was organized with the desire to create opportunities for international friends and Vietnamese people living abroad to express their feelings for the capital Hanoi. Thereby contributing to enhancing understanding of the thousand-year-old capital, the city for peace; promoting solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese people in general and the people of Hanoi in particular with international friends.

The organizing committee of the writing contest "Hanoi in me" awarded certificates to 21 winning authors.

After more than 5 months of launching the Contest, the Organizing Committee has received the participation of many foreign friends and Vietnamese people abroad with nearly 200 entries in both Vietnamese and English. Many contestants were assessed to have a rich Vietnamese vocabulary, use Vietnamese writing style fluently, rich in emotion, expressing special love for Hanoi as well as understanding of the history, culture and cuisine of the city.

From 50 articles that entered the Final Round, the Jury evaluated and selected 21 best articles to be awarded, including 01 Special Prize; 02 First Prizes; 03 Second Prizes; 05 Third Prizes; 10 Encouragement Prizes.

The Organizing Committee awarded the Special Prize of the writing contest “Hanoi in my heart” to Prof. Dr. Ahn Kyong Hwan (Korean nationality).

The Special Prize went to Prof. Dr. Ahn Kyong Hwan (Korean nationality), Honorary Citizen of Hanoi with his entry “Hanoi is the golden star in my heart”. The two First Prizes went to Mr. Saadi Salama - Head of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine in Vietnam with his entry “Another Hanoi” and contestant Mei Leng (Chinese nationality) with her entry “Hanoi in my heart”.

After the closing ceremony and award ceremony, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations organized the Peace and Friendship Melody Festival with the theme "Echoes of the City for Peace". This is a playground for non-professional artists from Friendship Associations and member organizations of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to meet, exchange, strengthen solidarity, consolidate and enhance the people's foreign affairs of the capital. The main content of the performances is to praise Hanoi, Vietnam as well as the friendship between the Vietnamese people and people of countries around the world.

Vietnamese - Japanese singing and dancing performance by the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Hanoi city.

As a result, the Jury selected 01 Special Prize; 02 First Prizes; 03 Second Prizes; 05 Third Prizes and 04 Encouragement Prizes. The Special Prize went to the song and dance performance “Sacred and Glorious Hanoi” performed by the Sen Viet Arts Club (UNESCO Association Hanoi). Two Second Prizes went to the choir performance “We love Australia” by the Vietnam - Australia Friendship Association of Hanoi and the Vietnam - Japan song and dance performance by the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Hanoi.
