"2024 marks the eighth time Qatar Airways has won the World's Best Airline title. We congratulate Qatar Airways on this success, which is a source of great pride and satisfaction for the airline's management and staff," Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, said in a statement at the awards ceremony.

The Middle Eastern airline has built a solid reputation over the past decade, with Qatar's Hamad International Airport in Doha recently named the World's Best Airport for 2024.

Qatar Airways currently has a fleet of 230 aircraft, including 10 very large A380s, alongside Boeing 777-300ERs, Boeing 787-8s and 787-9s, Airbus A350-900s and A350-1000s, and a range of smaller capacity jets.

"This is a proud moment for Qatar Airways and I am honoured to share the joy of this award with all our hard-working colleagues. The award is a testament to the relentless dedication of all of us to deliver the best service and great innovation. We look forward to many more wins in the future," said Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, CEO of Qatar Airways, in a statement released by Skytrax.

Fierce competition

Second place in this year's world's best airline rankings goes to Singapore Airlines. Last year, Singapore Airlines won the top prize.

Skytrax said all votes were collected from surveys of more than 21 million customers from 100 countries with the participation of about 350 airlines.

This year's top 10 once again lacks any North American airlines.

In addition to the above two airlines, the rankings list is as follows: Emirates Airlines of Dubai is in 3rd place, ANA All Nippon Airways of Japan is in 4th place, Cathay Pacific of Hong Kong (China) is in 5th place, Japan Airlines is in 6th place, Turkish Airlines is in 7th place, EVA Air of Taiwan (China) is in 8th place, Air France is in 9th place and Swiss International Airlines is in 10th place.

In addition to the top prize, Skytrax also gave out many consolation prizes. Today, Singapore Airlines continues to receive the award for the World's Best Airline Staff.

Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President Tan Pee Teck acknowledged the "unwavering dedication and professionalism" of the airline's flight crews. Singapore also won the awards for Best First Class Service and Best Airline in Asia.

Meanwhile, Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) received the award for World's Best Airport Services as well as Asia's Best Airline Staff.

Saudia Airlines was named the World's Most Improved Airline, beating Taiwan's Starlux Airlines and Iceland's Play.

Meanwhile, in the low-cost segment, Air Asia (Malaysia) was once again named the World's Best Low-Cost Airline - repeating an achievement it has achieved every year since 2010. Singapore's low-cost carrier Scoot was also named the World's Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline.

Mr. Tony Fernandes, representative of Air Asia, said that the airline's solid success is thanks to the efforts of its crew and the strong trust of passengers in the brand.

“I think no other airline has achieved such a winning streak and we are very proud of that. We dedicate this award to all our Allstars, our colleagues who have worked tirelessly to make this day a reality, as well as to all our guests who have remained loyal to us through the ups and downs that AirAsia has gone through,” Tony Fernandes stressed.

In Asia, Bangkok Airways won the World's Best Regional Airline award for the eighth consecutive year.

Vistara was named Best Airline in India/South Asia and Fiji Airways was named Best Airline in the Australia/Pacific region.
