At the conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam commented that every year the National Book Awards Organizing Committee tries to bring new features. This year, the Organizing Committee decided to add a category of Books that are Favorite by Readers . The books will be selected based on the number of publications within the specified time, then published in the press for readers to vote. The Organizing Committee wants to add more life to the awards to have more conditions to honor the books, the bookmakers, the bookmaking units... more. Mr. Do Quang Dung, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Publishing Association, said that at present, the Organizing Committee has received nearly 400 books, and this number will continue to increase. This year, the Organizing Committee will award 2 A prizes (last year there was only 1 A prize). Mr. Dung said that this change is a solution proposed by the Vietnam Publishing Association and the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, after receiving feedback during the judging process, to balance the recognition of translated books and books by domestic authors.

According to Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution Nguyen Nguyen, if compared to translated books, domestic works have clear differences. "Having two awards is to both properly evaluate the value of Vietnamese books and encourage domestic authors to create quality works, and at the same time recognize those who bring international knowledge to Vietnamese readers," Mr. Nguyen Nguyen affirmed. Criteria for judging "Books loved by readers" need to be clear. Mr. Hoang Phong Ha, former Vice President of the Vietnam Publishing Association, expressed concern about the new category of Books loved by readers . Mr. Ha said that there must be specific criteria, a certain range (release time) and more careful judging of books in that category. "It will be very difficult to choose works in this category. "If you are not careful, you will miss out on bad books if you only base it on the number of publications," Mr. Ha stated. Regarding the above issue, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen shared that in the category of Books that are Favorite by Readers, in addition to the criteria of the number of publications, there will still be additional criteria such as scientific nature, practicality, political ideology and even points for fine art.

At the end of the conference, Chairman of the Vietnam Publishing Association Pham Minh Tuan affirmed that the Association will provide all possible support to scientists and members participating in the judging process. Mr. Pham Minh Tuan believes that after 6 seasons, the members of the subcommittee are familiar with the judging process and have the experience to find good books.
