Gold price today December 13: Investors take profits, gold plummets

VTC NewsVTC News13/12/2024

The world gold price today is listed on Kitco at 2,679 USD/ounce, down 38 USD/ounce compared to early this morning.

Gold prices fell as investors rushed to take profits after the precious metal's price rose continuously and hit a more than five-week high earlier in the session.

While bulls remain bullish in the short term, prices could see a correction ahead of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) policy meeting due to profit-taking pressure, according to OANDA market analyst Zain Vawda.

Vawda said the market will be watching for any directional information about future US policy, which will be important in determining the sustainability of the market's next rally.

Gold Price Forecast

Goldman Sachs recently maintained its forecast that gold could hit $3,000 an ounce by the end of 2025, even if the US dollar remains strong. This shows confidence in gold's long-term price growth.

According to analysts at Heraeus Precious Metals Financial Group, gold prices in 2025 will fluctuate between $2,450 and $2,950 per ounce, supported by central bank purchases, albeit less than in 2024, along with geopolitical tensions in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Many experts predict that gold prices may fluctuate between $2,647 and $2,760 per ounce in the short term. Factors such as US bond yields and the global economic situation will positively affect gold prices.
