The import-export sector in Gia Lai province has many positive signals when the trade and import-export indicators in 2024 all increased compared to 2023.
On the morning of January 8, the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai province said that the trade and import-export indicators in 2024 all increased compared to 2023; the commodity market is stable, meeting the production and consumption needs of businesses and people; the export industry in 2024 is a bright spot, with many favorable factors such as high prices of key agricultural products (coffee), the market is expanded, and the province's export turnover has "reached the finish line" early.
Import and export sector has many positive signals.
In 2024, total retail sales of goods and service revenue are estimated at VND 60,083,044 billion, up 10.52% over the same period. Of which, total retail sales of goods are estimated at VND 44,817,451 billion, up 8.76% over the same period; services are estimated at VND 15,265,593 billion, up 16.3% over the same period.
The province's export turnover in 2024 is estimated at 820 million USD, reaching 109.33% of the plan, up 20.59% over the same period. Import turnover in 2024 is estimated at 142 million USD, reaching 123.48% of the plan, up 0.71% over the same period.
Total cross-border import and export turnover in 2024 is estimated at 190 million USD, up 31% over the same period. Of which: exports are estimated at 60 million USD, down 9% over the same period; imports are estimated at 130 million USD, up 67% over the same period.

Regarding state management tasks, the Industry and Trade Department of Gia Lai province has concretized 18 plans, programs, and projects that are fundamental and creative for trade development, import and export, and international economic integration in 2024. Therefore, the circulation of goods ensures supply and demand, stabilizes the market; domestic and foreign trade promotion activities have new developments with the active participation of the business community and cooperatives. In the field of e-commerce, the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai closely coordinates with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) to organize training conferences for enterprises, cooperatives, and business households on e-commerce application solutions, supporting the implementation of many development solutions; Conference to promote regional linkages in e-commerce development in Gia Lai province and the Central Highlands region.
Striving for export turnover to reach 850 million USD in 2025
In 2025, Gia Lai Department of Industry and Trade strives for an industrial production index increase of 4.8%; total retail sales of goods and service revenue of VND 66,500 billion; export turnover of USD 850 million; import turnover of USD 120 million.
Regarding trade, implement the management of trade promotion, promotional activities, exhibitions, import and export activities, continue to activate support for dynamic business methods through major e-commerce platforms. Advise on the implementation of Decree No. 60/2024/ND-CP dated June 5, 2024 of the Government on market development and management. Develop logistics to ensure synchronization of infrastructure and production structure in accordance with the goals and tasks of socio-economic development of the province.

Continue to promote and call for investment in logistics service infrastructure projects according to the plan. Promote the implementation of programs and activities to raise awareness and understanding of logistics services. Research, review, report and orient the review of roadmaps and solutions to reduce small-scale, ineffective, and unplanned gas stations; plan new investment in gas stations for urban areas and newly invested routes to ensure they are close to the actual situation and local conditions.
Support small and medium enterprises in building brands, finding and expanding export markets, updating the content of free trade agreements CPTPP and EVFTA, RCEP...; disseminate Vietnam's commitments in signed FTAs: tariffs, origin of goods, trade defense.
In 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai successfully coordinated to organize the Regional E-commerce Connection Conference in Gia Lai province and the Central Highlands provinces and the Trade Connection Program between suppliers in the Central Highlands region with export enterprises, distribution units and trade promotion organizations in 2024 in Gia Lai. The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates, including leaders representing the Departments under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, localities in the province, speakers from major e-commerce platforms (Alibaba, Tiktok..), more than 100 enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments inside and outside the province, central and local press agencies to attend the event and report. |
