Coffee price today 2/7/2025
World coffee prices are high, with Arabica coffee prices continuing to rise and reach new records. Robusta prices have peaked at times, but strong selling pressure at the top has pushed the market down, closing with a slight decrease of 10 USD in the most recent delivery period.
Domestic coffee prices today, February 7, are trading in the range of 129,800 - 130,700 VND/kg. The harvest has basically ended.
Concerns about supply in the first months of 2025 from the world’s largest coffee producers such as Vietnam and Brazil continue to grow after a prolonged drought. This has boosted coffee prices in recent times. This development is expected to increase pressure on consumers as higher raw coffee prices push retail prices to more expensive levels. This price increase has affected demand in major markets and is starting to curb the explosive growth of consumption in emerging economies.
Arabica coffee futures for March delivery continued to rise to a new record high of nearly 404 US cents/lb. For the first time in history, arabica set a record price for the 11th consecutive trading session due to continuous buying by speculators amid limited supplies. The reason is also attributed to a combination of factors: speculators buying, roasters giving up and traders removing hedges.
Specifically, trading firms often hedge their coffee purchases in producing countries by adding to their short positions in the futures market. When prices rise sharply like they have now, traders may choose to “unload” their hedges, that is, buy back the contracts, which adds further upward pressure on prices.
Arabica prices were also supported by the Brazilian real, which rose to a 2-1/2-month high against the dollar, dampening selling momentum from Brazilian exporters. There were also concerns among traders that U.S. President Donald Trump could impose trade tariffs on South American countries, which are the top coffee producers.
The development of robusta in the market today was predicted by experts. In particular, the price of robusta coffee is somewhat under pressure because the export volume of the world's largest robusta producing country - Vietnam, is starting to accelerate.
In addition, production in Vietnam – the world’s largest producer of robusta coffee – is also threatened by adverse weather conditions. Combined, this is expected to push global inventories to a 25-year low, according to the US Department of Agriculture.
Meanwhile, when coffee prices are this high, fundamentals become less important, attracting speculators to continue speculating. Many will be drawn to coffee after seeing what happened to cocoa and the rally they missed. This has pushed Arabica coffee up for 12 consecutive sessions.
Coffee inventories in exchange-controlled warehouses are also on the decline. However, the number of coffees awaiting quality assessment has recently increased, suggesting that record prices are attracting more supply to the exchange.

The January market bulletin of the Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that Vietnam's coffee exports to most traditional markets decreased.
Of which, Vietnam's coffee market share in the US, Vietnam's fourth largest coffee import market, decreased to 6.96% in the first 11 months of last year. In the same period in 2023, Vietnam's coffee market share in this market was at 10.71%.
In the first 11 months of 2023, the US imported 94,400 tons of coffee from Vietnam, worth 349.9 million USD. This number decreased by 32.1% in volume and 1.2% in value compared to the same period in 2023.
In addition to Vietnam, the US is importing coffee from 103 countries and territories around the world. Of which, Brazil is the largest coffee supplier for this country, followed by Colombia, Vietnam, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala...
Last year, the country exported about 1.34 million tons of coffee, worth 5.6 billion USD. This was a decrease of 17.1% in volume. However, the export value still increased by 32.5% due to the rising world price.
According to experts, freight rates are one of the reasons for the increase in global coffee prices. According to data from the Brazilian government, the country's coffee exports in December 2024 reached 200,000 tons, down 17.1% compared to the same period in 2023. Severe port congestion in Brazil has caused many difficulties in logistics at export ports, also causing coffee prices to increase.
In 2024, among the 10 largest coffee import markets of Vietnam, exports to Germany, Italy, Japan, the US, and Russia decreased. On the contrary, the markets of Spain, the Philippines, China, the Netherlands, and Indonesia increased their purchases from Vietnam. Exports of this item also recorded an increase in new markets such as Russia, the Philippines, and the Netherlands.
