According to Korean media, after topping the Korean box office in the first two days of its release (February 22-23), the movie "Exhuma" (Vietnamese title: Ghost Tomb Digging) has surpassed 1 million viewers.
According to data from the Korean Film Council, “Exhuma” has attracted a total of 1,000,891 viewers as of the morning of February 24. This means that the film took less than 3 days to reach the 1 million ticket mark, the best achievement of a film shown in Korea this year.
Notably, the ticket sales of “Exhuma” are faster than the recently released blockbuster “12.12: The Day” - the film that recorded the biggest box office success in Korea in 2023 (it took about 4 days to surpass 1 million viewers).
Previously, “Exhuma” was the Korean film with the highest number of pre-orders in 2024.
“Exhuma” is a supernatural, mystery, horror film that unravels the bizarre events involving a feng shui master, an undertaker, and two shamans, as they relocate mysterious graves in exchange for a hefty sum of money.
With the participation of famous actors Choi Min Sik, Kim Go Eun, Lee Do Hyun, Yoo Hae Jin…, “Exhuma” is highly appreciated by experts for its script and acting. The work was first introduced to the world audience at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Korean media described “Exhuma” as a “national acting competition” with many impressive scenes.
In particular, although it was only his first film role, Lee Do Hyun demonstrated his incredible acting ability, along with a transformation in appearance. Reporters all agreed that the actor had an extremely successful debut on the big screen.
