Production and business results October 2024
In October 2024, Vietnam Electricity Group and its member units ensured sufficient electricity supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's needs in the context of continued high growth in electricity demand. In particular, EVN units in the Central region proactively responded to and overcame the consequences of storm No. 6 (Tra Mi).
Fixing electrical problems after storm Tra Mi.
The total electricity production and import output of the entire system in October reached 25.96 billion kWh, up 7% compared to October 2023; of which the largest daily output reached 894.1 billion kWh and the largest capacity reached 44,222 MW (on the same day, October 1). Accumulated in the first 10 months of 2024, the total output of the entire system reached 258.7 billion kWh, up 10.6% over the same period in 2023. The output and proportion of mobilized power sources of the entire system in the first 10 months of 2024 are as follows: Hydropower: 76.31 billion kWh, accounting for 29.5%; Coal-fired thermal power: 125.99 billion kWh, accounting for 48.7%; Gas turbine: 18.46 billion kWh, accounting for 7.1%; Renewable energy: 32.88 billion kWh, accounting for 12.7% (of which solar power reached 22.44 billion kWh, wind power reached 9.56 billion kWh); Imported electricity: 2.03 billion kWh, accounting for 0.8%...
The estimated power transmission output in October 2024 is 20.44 billion kWh (up 7.5% compared to October 2023). The cumulative output in the first 10 months of 2024 is estimated at 206.86 billion kWh, up 11.16% compared to the same period in 2023.
The electricity growth rate of some typical components is as follows: electricity for industry - construction increased by 10.53%, electricity for trade - services increased by 11.9%, electricity for daily life increased by 9.88%.
In October 2024, the Group and its units will continue to focus on investing in key power source and grid projects such as the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant and power import lines from Laos.
In particular, the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion has been approved by the Investor's Acceptance Council to complete the items serving the flooding of the energy line by the end of October 2024, to prepare for generating electricity for Unit 1 in November 2024 and Unit 2 in December 2024.
In October 2024, EVN and its units started 13 projects and completed energizing 15 grid projects from 110 to 500kV, including energizing the project to increase the capacity of the 500kV Song May transformer station, the 220kV transformer stations of Nghi Son Economic Zone (phase 1), Dinh Quan, Duyen Hai...
In the first 10 months of 2024, EVN and its units started construction of 76 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 102 power grid projects from 110 kV to 500 kV (08 500kV projects, 18 220kV projects and 76 110kV projects).
EVN's key tasks
EVN requires its member units to thoroughly implement the direction of General Secretary To Lam on combating waste in work activities. At the same time, it requires strict implementation of the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister on implementing important projects to ensure electricity supply and ensure energy security in the last months of 2024 as well as in 2025.
EVN will coordinate with NSMO to continuously monitor closely the developments of meteorology, hydrology, fuel situation, generator availability and load growth to promptly update and adjust the operating method to ensure safe and reliable operation of the power system; use effectively and ensure the water storage target by the end of 2024.
Power Generation Corporations and power generation units shall review all equipment, ensure sufficient fuel for power production according to system needs; strictly implement technical management, inspection, and review of procedures and regulations in operation and maintenance to ensure the availability and reliability of generators.
Hydropower plants operate reservoirs safely, optimally exploit water resources and closely monitor and forecast hydrological situations to have plans to store water early in the final stages of the flood season to ensure the goal of storing water by the end of 2024, serving power generation needs, ensuring electricity supply for the dry season of 2025.
The National Power Transmission Corporation operates the power grid safely and reliably; prepares sufficient spare materials and equipment; reviews and effectively implements solutions to minimize transmission grid incidents. Power Corporations/Power Companies prepare power supply scenarios; continue to implement Directive No. 20 on promoting and implementing electricity saving.
Accelerate the construction progress of key power source projects, ensuring the target of generating electricity for the Ialy Hydropower Plant expansion project in November and December 2024; Phuoc Thai 2 & 3 Solar Power projects in the fourth quarter of 2024. Continue to coordinate with localities to implement compensation and site clearance for the Tri An Hydropower Expansion project and Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower project, ensuring construction sites are available when conditions are met to start construction at the end of 2024.
Units focus all resources, speed up progress to energize the 500kV line connecting Nhon Trach 4 Hydropower Plant, complete the 220kV Dak Ooc switching station and the connecting line in November 2024; energize the 500kV Monsoon - Thanh My line in December 2024.
For the project of supplying electricity from the national grid to Con Dao district, the selection of contractors to sign the EPC contract must be completed in November 2024; continue to carry out site clearance compensation to start construction at the end of 2024...
