On the afternoon of April 17, at the National Assembly House, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on preparations for the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

Reporting on a number of issues regarding the preparation for the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong said that, to date, the Secretary General of the National Assembly has received 17/17 comments from agencies, of which, they basically agree with the expected content of the Session; some comments suggest specific issues; the Government proposes to adjust the time to submit 1 content and add 13 other contents to submit to the National Assembly at the 7th Session.

On March 20, 2024, the Government Office issued a document notifying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang proposing the time to submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee for comments on the contents the Government proposed to supplement and submit to the National Assembly at the 7th Session.

In particular, 6 contents were added to the proposed Meeting Agenda, including:

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly gave opinions on 3 contents at this meeting: Investment policy for the North-South Expressway construction investment project in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section; Adjustment of investment policy for the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030; Plan for handling funds to implement the International Arbitration Award on the Petroleum Contract Lawsuit for Blocks 01 & 02.

Three contents have just been added to the Law and Ordinance Development Program to be submitted to the National Assembly at the 7th Session: Draft Law on Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue; Resolution on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Nghe An province; Resolution amending and supplementing Resolution No. 119 on piloting the organization of an urban government model and a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city.

Therefore, it is expected that at the 7th Session, the National Assembly will consider 24 contents related to legislative work; 16 contents on socio-economics, state budget, supervision and other important issues; at the same time, there will be 20 groups of contents sent by agencies for National Assembly deputies to study on their own.

Regarding the implementation method and detailed program plan, the Standing Committee of the Social Committee proposed: Increase the discussion time in the hall of the draft Law on Social Insurance (amended) to 1 day;

Arrange to discuss the content of the implementation results of the goals of the National Strategy on Gender Equality in 2023, because the implementation results in 2023 are the pivotal year to make a preliminary assessment of the implementation of the goals by 2025 and to provide forecasts and solutions to achieve the goals by 2030.

The Secretary General of the National Assembly requested the National Assembly Standing Committee to consider and agree with the proposal of the Standing Committee of the Social Affairs Committee on the time to discuss the draft Law on Social Insurance (amended).

Regarding the content on the results of implementing the goals of the national strategy on gender equality, based on the opinions of the Standing Committee of the Social Affairs Committee, the Secretary General of the National Assembly plans to arrange a discussion on this content together with group and hall discussions on socio-economics.

The total working time of the National Assembly is expected to be 26 days; opening on May 20, 2024 and closing on the morning of June 27, 2024, including arrangements for the National Assembly to work on 2 Saturdays (May 25 and June 8). The National Assembly will convene at the National Assembly House. The session will be held in 2 phases, specifically:

Phase 1 is 17 days: From May 20 to June 8, 2024.

Phase 2 is 9 days: From June 17 to the morning of June 27, 2024.

Regarding content preparation, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong said that the preparation of the session's content has been and is being urgently carried out by relevant agencies to ensure quality, progress, and timely service for the session.

Concluding the discussion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that based on the preparation results so far, the 7th Session is expected to open on May 20, 2024 with an expected duration of 26 working days, meeting at the National Assembly House, organized in 2 phases.

The National Assembly Chairman requested that agencies continue to uphold their responsibilities, coordinate closely, make the greatest efforts and determination, promptly complete documents, and strive to send documents on time as prescribed .
