Happy Tet but still stick to the fields day and night
On the afternoon of February 1, speaking with Dan Viet reporter, farmer Ngan Van Hung, residing in Hung Thanh hamlet, Hung Thanh commune, Tan Hung district (Long An) said that his family has cultivated 15 hectares of rice land. Currently, the rice is in the flowering stage and growing very well.
Although enjoying spring and celebrating Tet, the family does not forget their duty to go to the fields to watch the green rice plants in the large fields.
"High or low productivity is the most important thing at this time. If farmers are negligent, they will lose the whole crop," he said.

A few kilometers away, Mr. Le Van Don, residing in Go Thuyen hamlet, Vinh Thanh commune, has been taking care of 5 hectares of Dai Thom 8 rice variety for 60 days.
According to the old farmer, this season the weather is favorable so the rice fields are growing well, promising high yields. During Tet, he still visits the fields every day, so if he detects pests or diseases in the rice, he will treat them to ensure the rice plants are healthy and have high yields.
According to Tan Hung Agricultural Service Center, the district is currently sowing the whole crop, with 330,000 hectares of rice alone in the earing stage, more than 1,000 hectares have yielded 6.5 - 7.5 tons/ha. The selling price purchased by traders at the field is 6,400 VND/kg, after deducting costs, farmers earn a profit of 15 - 25 million VND/ha.

"Before, during and after Tet, farmers regularly visit the rice fields to effectively manage pests and diseases in the fields, helping the rice plants grow well until the end of the season and hopefully in the new year, new victories," the district's agricultural sector informed.

Accompanying farmers, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province Nguyen Thanh Truyen and technical staff directly visited some rice fields in the district area in the Dong Thap Muoi region of the province on the first day of Tet.
Through field inspections, the delegation assessed that the situation of pests and diseases in the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice crop is lower than that of the previous Winter-Spring rice crop. However, the current weather is foggy and humid, suitable for pests to attack rice, so farmers should not be negligent or subjective, and need to regularly visit the fields to have appropriate prevention and control measures.
Experts advise farmers to pay attention to brown planthoppers, leaf blast, and worms that can increase the infected area on rice at the tillering stage. Leaf blight, brown planthoppers, neck blast, grain sterility, etc. increase the infected area on rice at the flowering stage. Although it is Tet, farmers must go to the fields to focus on monitoring to detect and prevent promptly and effectively.
