On July 31, the SACCR Project Management Board organized agricultural material support for project beneficiaries in Ea Sar commune (Ea Kar district).
Mr. Pham Ngoc Nam, Deputy Director of SACCR Project Management Board, spoke at the agricultural materials support session for people. |
Accordingly, the entire Ea Kar district has 3 communes in the project area (Ea Sar, Ea So and Xuan Phu), with 330 households receiving support for fertilizers (worth 5 million VND/household), including 245 poor households and 85 near-poor households. Along with the provision of agricultural materials to the people, the Project Management Board also organized technical training according to the Field School Method (FFS) for farmers in the communes.
The project "Enhancing the resilience of small-scale agriculture to water security due to climate change in the Central Highlands and South Central regions" (abbreviated as the SACCR Project) is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and will be implemented in the province from 2022 to 2026.

The project has a total investment of over VND 118 billion, of which the UNDP non-refundable capital is VND 102.6 billion and the provincial budget is VND 15.9 billion. The SACCR project aims to enhance the adaptive capacity of vulnerable smallholder farmers to water insecurity caused by climate change in the province. Thereby, it contributes to improving the capacity to apply techniques to agricultural production to adapt to climate change according to the project's objectives.
According to the plan, from July 31 to August 9, 2023, the SACCR Project Management Board will distribute agricultural materials to support project beneficiaries in 11 communes, 4 districts in the province (Ea Kar, Ea H'leo, Krong Pac, Cu M'gar), with 588 households receiving support.

Speaking at the support session, Mr. Pham Ngoc Nam, Deputy Director of the SACCR Project Management Board, said that the beneficiaries of the project are poor and near-poor households, ethnic minority households, and households where women are the breadwinners of their families and have a cultivated area of less than 1 hectare.
According to UNDP, this is considered a disadvantaged and vulnerable group in society, so local authorities from district to commune level in the project area pay great attention and closely coordinate with the Project Management Board in reviewing the list of households that meet the criteria for benefits to ensure the right beneficiaries. This is a great source of support for households in difficult circumstances in the project area.
