A close, cooperative, and sharing relationship.

Under the leadership of the Party, the revolutionary press of Vietnam has always accompanied businesses on their journey of integration and economic development. However, among countless goals, the press and businesses share one ultimate objective, which is also their noblest task and mission: "serving the people and the country." To fulfill that mission, the press and domestic businesses have collaborated and worked together for sustainable development.

In fact, no economic organization or business can function without the information conveyed by the press. The press not only provides information on science , technology, management, law, markets, and investment, both domestically and internationally, but also serves as a channel to disseminate and promote the potential and products and services of businesses to the public, creating opportunities to attract investment and resources to boost economic development.

Furthermore, the press also serves as a forum for the business community, reflecting the regime, policies, and business environment; connecting, interacting, and exchanging experiences; fostering public confidence in businesses; encouraging corporate social responsibility; and, most importantly, acting as a bridge between businesses and the government .

Conversely, businesses are a rich and diverse source of material for journalistic activities, serving the information needs of society. In particular, businesses are also a crucial and indispensable source of financial support for the social activities of media organizations. Political and social events organized by the press, especially social campaigns aimed at supporting the community, contributing to the xây dựng nông thôn mới (new rural development) program, and assisting those affected by natural disasters, all receive active support and partnership from businesses.

Tran Khanh Quang, General Director of Viet An Hoa Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company, shared that he highly values the role of the press in the development of the company and considers it a major relationship in Viet An Hoa's past and future development.

“After the Covid-19 pandemic, the real estate market entered an unprecedentedly difficult cycle, but fortunately, thanks to the media's support, the problems, concerns, and anxieties of businesses were quickly conveyed to the relevant authorities, and thus were resolved more quickly. From a business perspective, I am very grateful for the contributions of all journalists and media outlets,” Mr. Tran Khanh Quang expressed.

Sharing the same view, the Chairwoman of the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Businesses, Vu Kim Hanh, also affirmed that in any period, the press has always played a crucial role in encouraging and motivating businesses and entrepreneurs to promote creativity and innovation. Through the press, consumers become more aware of business brands and products.

“Notably, in recent times, the press has been very active in spreading the message of digital transformation and green transformation to the domestic business community, creating immense significance in guiding businesses to implement sustainable development models. This, in turn, creates valuable products for the benefit of the nation and the health of Vietnamese consumers. No one can do this task better than the press,” Ms. Vu Kim Hanh emphasized.

According to businesspeople and enterprises, the relationship between the press and businesses is a natural, mutually beneficial one, because the press needs businesses, and businesses always need the press to accompany, connect with, cooperate with, and share in their development journey.

Eliminating the "dark areas," aiming for sustainable partnership.

Respecting the collaborative development relationship, for many years, the press and businesses have strived to build a close bond. However, alongside the bright spots, there are also many invisible "dark areas" affecting this relationship.

In the 4.0 era, social media is a double-edged sword, negatively impacting both journalism and businesses. A prime example is the explosion of "junk" news, rumors, and false information on social media, which has caused significant damage to businesses, leading to crises, withdrawal, and even reluctance to share information with the press.

Furthermore, another worrying issue is the situation where some individuals impersonate reporters and journalists to harass businesses, causing businesses to lose faith in the press. Similarly, the practice of some reporters and journalists scrutinizing even minor flaws in businesses to exert pressure for personal gain is also a recent troubling issue. However, sometimes these problems stem from the motives of the businesses themselves. For example, some businesses use the press to target the weaknesses of their competitors...

In a frank discussion about the hidden aspects of the relationship between the press and businesses, lawyer Le Ngo Trung (Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association) stated that maintaining "clean" journalism is the biggest concern in the management of newsrooms today. When the press is given "power," it also presents a challenge in using that power. Establishing a relationship between the press and businesses requires meticulousness, diligence, and subtlety from both sides.

From a business perspective, Master Nguyen Minh Quan - Standing Vice President of the C&D Business Club - also stated that the press is the best communication channel for businesses.

"In this era of integration, businesses are forced to venture into the global market. Therefore, more than ever, Vietnamese businesses need the support of the domestic press to assert themselves. And of course, in the vibrant competition of the marketplace, the dynamism, creativity, and thinking of entrepreneurs and businesses will be a rich and lively source of material for the press," analyzed Master's degree holder Nguyen Minh Quan.

It can be affirmed that these "dark spots" are actually only a minority, just a few bad apples spoiling the bunch. Once the press and businesses work together to strengthen mutual trust, and that trust is built on honesty, then no obstacle can shake the bond. This will create a solid foundation for today's business and press teams to grow stronger, mature, strive, and bravely venture forth to fulfill their mission of serving the country and the people...

The foundation for a sustainable relationship between journalism and businesses is ethics. Journalistic ethics means reporting objectively and offering constructive criticism. Meanwhile, business ethics means conducting business with the goal of self-development, while contributing to the development of the country. When both journalism and businesses uphold their respective ethical principles, they are working together on a journey to serve the nation and its people.
