Welcoming a flood of visitors, Hanoi tourism flourishes in early 2025

During the 2025 New Year holiday, Hanoi is expected to welcome 160,000 visitors, with revenue reaching about VND594 billion, an impressive growth compared to the same period last year.

Of which, international tourists were estimated at 28,400, up 67%. Domestic tourists were estimated at 132,000, up 10%. Total revenue from tourists was estimated at VND594 billion, up 26% over the same period last year. The average room occupancy rate during the New Year holiday in 4-5 star hotels and tourist apartments was about 80%. Photo: Dan Thanh Although the New Year 2025 holiday is only one day, many tourist attractions in the area, commercial centers, shopping, entertainment and dining establishments... all recorded an increase in the number of visitors and revenue. Notably, the walking street space around Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity is allowed to operate from 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2024 to midnight on January 1, 2025. The Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center opens for visitors to visit and take photos at the Hanoi Flag Tower; the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi) organizes activities with the theme "Spring in the village"... to serve tourists. The suburbs of Hanoi have many ideal destinations for people and tourists to enjoy during the New Year such as: Me Linh Flower Festival with brilliant flowers; Tour to visit famous flower and ornamental plant villages in Hanoi: Hong Van ornamental plant village (Thuong Tin), Phu Dong tourist site (Gia Lam), Nhat Tan tourist site (Tay Ho), experience rural tourism and buy ornamental plants in Tich Giang (Phuc Tho district); Experience the colorful space and incense stick making profession at Quang Phu Cau Incense Village (Ung Hoa district); Explore and experience pottery making at Bat Trang Ancient Village... It is estimated that on January 1, 2025, Hanoi Zoo welcomed 18,535 visitors, Thang Long Imperial Citadel welcomed nearly 8,000 visitors; Duong Lam Ancient Village welcomed more than 2,000 visitors, 3 tourist sites in Gia Lam district (Bat Trang craft village tourist site, Duong Xa tourist site, Phu Dong tourist site) welcomed about 5,000 visitors... These impressive numbers open up a positive development direction for Hanoi's tourism industry in the new year. In 2025, Hanoi strives to attract more than 30 million visitors, an increase of 11.1% compared to the estimated implementation in 2024 with over 7 million international tourists (including 5 million visitors with accommodation), an increase of 27.3% compared to the estimated implementation in 2024 and 23 million domestic visitors, an increase of 7% compared to the estimated implementation in 2024. Total revenue from tourists in the capital in 2025 is expected to reach over 130,000 billion VND, an increase of 26.1% compared to the estimated implementation in 2024.
