At the construction site, engineer Ho Minh Canh - Site Manager of Quang Nam Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company said that this is the first bored pile of pier T33. The project will proceed to cast a total of 9 piles, each pier has 2 bored piles. The length of pier T33 is 57m, according to the design, a total of 76m3 of cement concrete must be poured.
Meanwhile, the subcontractor, Tan Tien Investment and Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company, has also dismantled the railings and sidewalks on the left side of the three spans from the northern end of the bridge. These railings and sidewalks are not in the locations where the bridge piers must be constructed, so they were dismantled first. At locations where piers are constructed, after completing this item, the contractor will deploy the upper part. Tan Tien is also the unit responsible for the construction of the upper structure items, other structures, dismantling and installing the lighting system on the bridge, ensuring traffic.

Regarding the progress of the project, engineer Ho Minh Canh shared that the preparation work needs a lot of time to mobilize barges, machinery, equipment, and materials, and to build a landing site on the river. It is convenient to construct on the bank of Nam Phuoc town, where there is a landing site, and the locality creates the best conditions for setting up camps, gathering machinery, and materials. Now that everything is ready, the contractor can start construction.
According to engineer Nguyen Van Cong - Chief Construction Supervision Consultant (Quang Nam Traffic Consulting Joint Stock Company), the work is progressing as planned. However, due to the weather entering the rainy and stormy season, if there is a big flood, the construction must be stopped. Through monitoring, the flood level of Thu Bon River at Cau Lau reaches alert level 2, the contractor must urgently report to the investor (Provincial Department of Transport) so that the competent authority can decide whether to ban all vehicles and people from crossing the bridge to ensure safety or not.
On April 17, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 947 on approving the adjustment of the total investment and approving the investment project for the construction of the old Cau Lau bridge repair project. The total investment after adjustment is about 36 billion VND. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Transport to be the investor. The old Cau Lau bridge repair project aims to maintain the bridge's operational capacity, serving the travel needs of the people of Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen and neighboring areas. In particular, the completed project will share the traffic volume of light-duty cars, motorbikes, and rudimentary vehicles that are currently passing through the new Cau Lau bridge to ensure traffic safety.
The winning contractor for the construction is Quang Nam Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company. The contract implementation period is 365 days. The project started on September 29, 2024. The list of subcontractors includes: Tan Tien Investment and Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company; Minh Chau Construction Design and Inspection Consulting Joint Stock Company. The project supervision consultant is Quang Nam Traffic Consulting Joint Stock Company.
