In recent days, the provinces of Son La, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang... have experienced thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hailstorms causing damage to people's homes and property.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night (April 21), in the North there were scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some heavy rain. The rainfall from 7:00 p.m. on April 21 to 3:00 a.m. on April 22 was over 30mm in some places, such as: Mau Son (Lang Son) 56.6mm, Tan Minh (Phu Tho) 50.2mm, Lang Can (Tuyen Quang) 47.4mm, Nong Thinh (Bac Kan) 36.8mm, Cay Thi (Thai Nguyen) 75.9mm, Tu Mai (Bac Giang) 34.8mm... Heavy rain, tornadoes, and hail have affected the power grid in some northern provinces under the management of the Northern Power Corporation.

According to the Northern Power Corporation, in Son La - the province most severely damaged in this storm, heavy rain and tornadoes caused many 110kV poles to fall and tilt in more than 10 locations, causing a power outage at the 110kV Phu Yen station that supplies electricity to the entire Phu Yen district, Son La province.

Many electric poles in Son La were affected by thunderstorms.

Son La Power Company said that the unit mobilized all its forces to work through the night. By 6:00 a.m. on April 21, the 110kV power grid in Son La had switched the power supply method from line 371 E17.66 Yen Chau to line 373 Phu Yen, supplying power to 13,870 customers; power supply from line 374 E17.1 Moc Chau to line 371 Phu Yen, supplying power to 1,469 customers.

Phu Yen Power Company is continuing to check and handle the incidents of lines 371, 373, 375, 471 Phu Yen to gradually restore the lines from the 35kV source Yen Chau, Moc Chau. According to Phu Yen Power Company, 193 transformer stations have been fixed, 15,339 customers have been restored to power. Currently, 30,442 customers and 278 transformer stations are still without power. Son La Power Company is continuing to fix the incident to restore power to customers.

In Yen Bai, two 110kV poles have collapsed, causing the poles to become deformed, bent, and warped, with the risk of falling. Currently, the Yen Bai High Voltage Grid Operation Management Team has taken measures to ensure power supply to customers.

For medium and low voltage grids: As of 9:00 p.m. on April 21, in the Phu Yen - Bac Yen area (Son La), the unit has restored power to more than 30,000 customers and 367 transformer stations. Currently, 17,965 customers and 172 transformer stations in Son La are still without power, and are expected to be restored and re-energized on April 22. Son La Electricity Industry Overcomes Power Outage Due to Storms

For the provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Ha Giang... the Electricity sector is also making efforts to handle power outages caused by thunderstorms. It is expected that these localities will restore and supply power to affected customers on April 22 and 23.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the evening and night of April 22, in the Northern region, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15-30mm, some places over 50mm; in the Central region and Central Highlands, there will be localized showers and thunderstorms. Localized heavy rain is likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

Faced with this situation, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Northern Power Corporation and Power Companies in the areas that may be affected have been closely monitoring the rain and thunderstorm situation to urge units to inspect and restore the power grid to restore power to the people.
