Proposal to invest early in the North-South Expressway section in the West through Gia Lai province
The North-South Expressway in the West, section through Gia Lai province, is about 250 km long and is proposed to be invested before 2030 with a planning scale of 6 lanes.

Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has just sent a document to the Ministry of Transport proposing to invest in the North-South Expressway, western section, passing through this province.
Accordingly, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested the Ministry of Transport to consider and synchronously implement the North-South Expressway Project in the West, focusing on investing in sections passing through Gia Lai province, including the Ngoc Hoi (Kon Tum) - Pleiku (Gia Lai) expressway section, 90km long, with 6 lanes; the Pleiku (Gia Lai) - Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) expressway section, 160km long, with 6 lanes.
It is known that in Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW on the direction of socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the Politburo has determined to develop the Central Highlands region in the direction of promoting regional and intra-regional linkages; taking planning as the basis for regional development management; closely linking with the Southeast region and the provinces of the Central Coast region; accelerating connections with major economic centers of the country, with countries in the Mekong Sub-region, especially within the framework of the Greater Mekong Sub-region Cooperation, the Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia Development Triangle and ASEAN countries.
In particular, taking the development of transport infrastructure and digital infrastructure as a driving force, creating room for regional development; developing transport infrastructure in a synchronous, modern direction, conveniently connecting the entire region to seaports, domestic and international airports...
Resolution No. 23 also determined to study investment in the Western North-South expressway (Ngoc Hoi - Pleiku, Pleiku - Buon Ma Thuot, Buon Ma Thuot - Gia Nghia).
“With the investment in the above-mentioned expressways before 2030, the transport infrastructure network of the Central Highlands region will form a high-speed transport axis connecting the Western region with the Eastern region, connecting with the Quy Nhon Port area because the Western North-South expressway connects with the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway”, said the leader of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee.
In Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021 of the Prime Minister on approving the Road Traffic Network Planning for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 and Decision No. 1750/QD-TTg dated December 30, 2023 of the Prime Minister on approving the Gia Lai Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the planning of the Western North-South Expressway (Ngoc Hoi (Kon Tum) - Pleiku (Gia Lai) Expressway is 90km long, with a scale of 6 lanes; Pleiku (Gia Lai) - Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) Expressway is 160km long, with a scale of 6 lanes) with an investment progress before 2030.
