On the afternoon of June 7, about 6,900 candidates took exams in specialized subjects to compete for places in specialized classes of 6 high schools.
The following are the specialized subjects, integrated into grade 10 of specialized schools in Ho Chi Minh City:
Students taking the entrance exam for specialized grade 10 must take three basic subjects: Literature, Foreign Language, Math and one specialized subject exam. The admission score for specialized subjects is the sum of the scores of the three basic subjects (coefficient 1) plus the score of the specialized subject exam (coefficient 2).

The highest competition ratio for 10th grade specialized classes in Ho Chi Minh City is 1/5.4, at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, meaning that out of 6 students taking the exam, only one is admitted. This ratio at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted is 1/4.6. In addition, Nguyen Huu Huan, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Mac Dinh Chi, and Gia Dinh High Schools all have 5-6 specialized classes, with competition ratios ranging from 1/2.3 to 1/3.4.
The 10th grade exam scores in Ho Chi Minh City are expected to be announced on June 20. Next, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the benchmark scores for specialized and integrated classes on June 24. The benchmark scores for regular 10th grade will be announced on July 10.
