Fresh, not complicated

As someone who has participated in manyeducational fields, teacher Vu Khac Ngoc (Hanoi) said that the 2025 reference exam is very good, new and almost "a complete break" with the old general education program.

According to Mr. Ngoc, the reference questions will challenge many units because a series of data and examination systems will have to completely change in the future.

Specifically, in the past, exam questions were heavy on complex, puzzling, troublesome, and… meaningless calculations, especially natural science subjects that abused heavy calculation techniques.

In this sample test, except for some basic and necessary questions, the difficult questions require a synthesis of many abilities of students. In addition to mastering basic knowledge, skills in reading comprehension, searching, analyzing, processing information, modeling information to solve problems..., are all very important. These are all new skills that the old program has not "touched" clearly.

In particular, the situations used as models in the lesson are also very close to reality, meaningful, requiring students to be able to apply knowledge, understand the meaning and value of knowledge in real-life situations and research experiments, and production practices.

"In my opinion, this exam is really new, modern, and pioneering, especially with an education system that values ​​exams and a heavy application mentality like ours today. From this exam, other exams such as: Grade 10 exams, specialized exams or excellent student exams..., will definitely look at it to build the exam.

At the same time, the entire system from the end of junior high school up, looks at it to adjust teaching and learning methods for students. I think this innovation has a very positive and widespread impact," said Mr. Ngoc.

People studying for exams are still... shocked.

According to Mr. Ngoc, right after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the reference exam questions for the 2025 high school graduation exam, a series of teachers, especially famous exam preparation teachers, were extremely surprised, even stunned.

"Over the past two years, I have studied quite deeply the competency assessment exams at several universities, but when I encountered this exam, I was still "shocked" because it changed radically compared to the old exam.

Currently, only a few universities have their own advanced exams that can be compared with the exams of the Ministry of Education and Training, while some other schools are still very outdated," Mr. Ngoc added.

Also with this perspective, Mr. Dinh Duc Hien, Vice Principal of FPT Bac Giang Inter-level High School, commented: "The 2025 reference exam is really interesting"!

Mr. Hien said that the reference high school graduation exam has really changed, taking on a more competency-based assessment than many exams currently labeled as competency-based.

So with this test, the current competency assessment exams of some universities will certainly have to change.

"Certainly the pressure for change is growing and becoming more obvious for teachers, and the market for buying and selling exam materials is about to become more vibrant. This strong change does not come from students but from teachers," said Mr. Hien.

Mr. Dao Tuan Dat, Chairman of Einstein High School (Hanoi), also admitted that with this exam, many universities with their own exams will certainly have to change.

In particular, many schools and even teachers will have to change a lot when the previous examination data system cannot be applied because it is too outdated.
