Phong Dien Town's functional units and branches started planting trees at the beginning of the year.

Spring is the season of tree planting. Every tree planted from the hills and forests to urban areas and cities... is for the purpose of creating landscapes, protecting the environment, and improving the quality of life. Lack of trees in mountainous areas will cause the risk of erosion and flooding. Rural areas without trees will no longer be cool countryside in the middle of summer. Streets and urban areas without trees will become bare, stuffy, and suffocating with the smell of concrete houses, smoke and dust from vehicles...

For generations, trees have always been close to humans. Whenever public or private housing projects, offices, or roads are built, trees are always an indispensable part to create ecological space to regulate the living environment for humans. Trees are not only of ecological value but also reflect the cultural and historical characteristics of each region.

In Hue City, the rows of ancient trees along the inner and outer streets or the parks on both banks of the Perfume River are an important part of the community’s memory and the green urban heritage known to international friends. Many experts affirm that the value of Hue’s green tree system cannot be measured in money. The role of trees is greater than air conditioning.

In recent times, climate change has become increasingly extreme everywhere. In urban areas, trees and vegetation help reduce surface runoff, increase permeability, retain water, promote evapotranspiration, and minimize the heat island effect.

Currently, Hue City is still a green city, which means that more trees need to be planted. Therefore, in the early days of spring, what could be more meaningful than cultivating and planting more rows of green trees...

However, each individual, agency, and local unit participating in planting trees should not consider it a movement. Tree planting must ensure that the trees survive, because each tree planted carries the hope of the planter. Moreover, it is necessary to take into account the appropriate use of each type of tree, such as streets need to plant tall, wide-canopy trees with deep roots. In offices and schools, it is necessary to plant typical shade trees. In park areas, trees should be planted to create beautiful scenery. When building new urban areas, roads, and offices, it is necessary to pay attention to "greening" to put them into use...

More broadly and very gratifyingly, in response to the movement "Planting 1 billion trees for Vietnam in the period of 2021 - 2025" launched by the Prime Minister, in 2024, the forest area in the area continued to be well managed and protected. The city's forest coverage rate reached over 57.18%. The whole city planted more than 6,670 hectares of forest, an increase of 7.6% compared to the plan; planted more than 1 million scattered trees, an increase of 12.8% compared to the plan; sowed and nurtured more than 21.9 million seedlings for afforestation activities.

Up to now, the city has nearly 13,200 hectares of forest certified for sustainable forest management by FSC, of which about 942.7 hectares are natural forests. Through many programs and projects, Hue City is currently continuing to increase the existing mangrove forest area to adapt to climate change and develop livelihoods for residents in lagoon and coastal areas; promote silvicultural activities, enhance the value of forest ecosystems...
