On March 25, the Prime Minister approved the project to develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into one of the leading higher education institutions in Asia. The project aims to develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into a modern higher education institution, one of the leading universities in Asia in the field of engineering and technology, and a center of excellence in training, talent development, research and innovation.

This will also be the school that plays a leading role in the Vietnamese higher education system in fields serving the development of technology and strategic industries such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, semiconductors, robotics and automation...

By 2030, Hanoi University of Science and Technology aims to have at least 25% of its total training programs taught in English, training at least 8,000 engineers, masters, and doctors in fields serving strategic technology and industrial development. In addition, this educational institution will have 4-6 groups of fields/fields ranked in the top 300-500 in the region and the world.

By 2035, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will be the leading center of research and innovation in the country in science, engineering and technology, ranked in the top 100-150 in Asia according to prestigious international rankings.

By 2045, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will become a university in the top 100 universities in Asia in the field of engineering and technology, with a regional and international reputation for science, technology and innovation, playing an important role in promoting the development of Vietnam's higher education system.

One of the tasks and solutions proposed is to invest in the synchronous construction of the second campus of Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Hung Yen province. Regarding this issue, the Government requested the People's Committee of Hung Yen province to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to support the school in investing in construction and expanding development space in Van Giang district, Hung Yen province, ensuring compliance with relevant planning.

In addition, the school also needs to perfect the development model towards autonomy, modernity, international integration to promote scientific research and innovation; Research and propose mechanisms and policies to attract individuals, organizations and businesses to invest in scientific research, technology transfer and innovation; Perfect the innovation ecosystem, closely integrate with the national innovation ecosystem, create a dynamic research, innovation and startup environment.

Many universities have begun to develop equivalent point conversion formulas . National Economics University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Banking Academy have researched equivalent point conversion formulas based on input data, learning outcomes of previous students, and based on the score distribution of methods in 2025.
On March 22, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Long Bien, his wife, children and former students went to Hanoi University of Science and Technology to present 1 billion VND to poor students who have overcome difficulties.
