Investing nearly 63 billion VND in 23 projects to prevent and combat natural disasters

Ho Chi Minh City supports urgent funding for repairs of key disaster prevention and control works in 2024

23 projects include: Repairing SG3 culvert of the left bank flood prevention embankment project along the Saigon River from Binh Phuoc Bridge to Cau Ngang Canal (Thu Duc City); urgently reinforcing landslide locations on the banks of Cau Sa Canal (District 12); preventing flooding in 4 alleys (Tan Binh District); repairing 6 drainage ditches, canals, and channels (Cu Chi District); repairing 11 canal embankments and branches (Thu Duc City). The total estimated support cost is 62,598 billion VND.

These projects, once completed, are expected to effectively prevent high tides, flooding, and drain water to protect areas with a total area of ​​about 134.53 hectares and protect about 7,722 households.

Accordingly, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to direct the assigned investor to organize surveys, prepare documents, and carry out procedures for works belonging to the irrigation infrastructure assets managed by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; approve the Economic-Technical Report documents and approve the final settlement in accordance with current regulations.

At the same time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance and the State Treasury of the city to direct and manage the management agency of the City's Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Fund based on the Decision approving the Economic - Technical Report approved by the competent authority and the project implementation progress, and carry out procedures for allocating funds for settlement of projects from the City's Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Fund for localities and units according to regulations.

In addition, the City People's Committee also assigned the People's Committee of Tan Binh District, the People's Committee of Cu Chi District and the People's Committee of Thu Duc City to be responsible for directing affiliated units with the function of being investors to organize surveys, prepare documents, and carry out procedures for construction of works, and seek professional opinions from the Irrigation Sub-Department (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development).

Approve the Economic - Technical Report documents in accordance with current regulations and promptly implement construction to complete the project and put it into use.

Units must be responsible for checking the current status of works in the area, ensuring safety, proactively implementing measures to handle vulnerable locations, ensuring flood prevention, high tides, and drainage according to the "four on-site" motto, especially during high tides and floods in 2024.
